Idk why but a sponsorship on a manifesto is very funny to me. Wish Marx could've brought up raid shadow legends in his manifesto

Whatifalthist dropping an incredibly articulate and thought provoking video essay as if tomorrow he isn't gonna post a poll asking if you'd vote for Spongebob to be president

"I'm like one of five people who could steer this process to become something better"

Rudyard, I'm a longtime fan and continue to watch almost every one of your videos when they drop. I enjoy listening to you flesh out grand historical/cultural/societal theories and narratives, and even when some of your arguments seem to be a bit of a stretch, you are clearly a very bright young mind with a vast historical knowledge base and a knack for thinking in a much larger frame of mind than most people.

However, to be brutally honest, I fear you've come to increasingly overestimate your own significance and influence. I might would dismiss it as the natural arrogance that is part of being 20 years old, but as you've progressed through your early 20s, the general air of self-importance I can sometimes sense from you as a regular viewer has only gotten worse, outstripping the growth of the channel or your own actual influence. Your channel is getting some truly impressive numbers at this point, particularly for someone operating on your small scale, but the public intellectuals who are actually driving this ideological debate, formulating these types of theories, and shaping our collective thoughts are reaching orders-of-magnitude more eyeballs than you, and are doing so not (only) through video essays but through more formal and respected media (books/articles). More importantly, they are talking to and collaborating with each other, while you've been largely siloed off doing your own thing (though the podcast is a step in the right direction).

While this may be sounding like one long chastisement, I think your career as a public intellectual has great potential, you just need to be humble and realize that you are still in the very early stages of it with a long way to go. I really don't know what the fuck I'm talking about, but my suggestion would be to start publishing some formal and more academically rigorous articles about your various ideas in whatever publication you can/choose (maybe hold off on the manifestos for a while), and start/continue reaching out to other public intellectuals that talk about similar topics, or even go to some relevant conferences to try to start networking and collaborating (this also has the benefit of rapidly growing your exposure).

I think you are quite brilliant and have immense potential, but if you want to fulfill that potential, you'll need to keep the hubris in check and start taking more steps towards growing your actual influence and honing your intellectual dexterity against other sharp minds.

Can’t wait for people to misunderstand this.
Edit: people are already misunderstanding me since I can write sarcasm in my comment. Plus I agree with the Video.

1:29 This is what frustrates me the most with the Republican Party in the US. They have the potential to form a coalition to stop the insanity plaguing our society, yet do the bare minimum to maintain the status quo.

I became a father at 22, I stood up and fulfilled my duties as a dad and worked. I wanted a job that would be hard and teach me the life lessons I needed for my son, so I became a Scaffolder, hard labour, working with emotionally hard men; all while facing a life long fear by working at heights. And I'm smashing it

Since we're on the topic of privacy/decentralization I would like to use this opportunity to bring up a specific issue that I've never heard mentioned by a public figure. We need to pass laws which one might call "right to not own a smartphone". It's getting to the point that I cannot listen to music in my car, enter my child's school to watch a performance, make a doctor's appointment, set up a bank account, or order food at a restaurant, unless I have a smartphone with the ability to scan a QR code and/or a google account. Both government and private business are guilty of this. A person must be free to move about society and complete necessary, daily tasks without internet, phone, credit card, etc. I would love to see a prominent politician support this. Maybe if some more people like Rudyard speak about this issue, it will gain the attention it needs to actually become law. Rudyard always speaks on general, big-picture issues in our society, which is great, but we need a very specific list of things that can actually be implemented NOW or this will all go nowhere.

Young man, if you're one of 5 guys who can turn this ship around then we are most certainly doomed. That's nothing against you but rather when we have a country of 300 million people and a culture of billions, it's going to take a hell of a lot more than 5 people to make a positive impact. It's going to take MILLIONS.

In order to have Honor, Freedom, and Truth, you must first be able to withstand discomfort. Suffering leads to perseverance, character, and hope.

"What I remember about the rise of the Empire is... is how quiet it was. During the waning hours of the Clone Wars, the 501st Legion was discreetly transferred back to Coruscant. It was a silent trip. We all knew what was about to happen, what we were about to do. Did we have any doubts? Any private, traitorous thoughts? Perhaps, but no one said a word. Not on the flight to Coruscant, not when Order 66 came down, and not when we marched into the Jedi Temple. Not a word." - Operation: Knightfall "Knightfall" - Star Wars Battlefront II (2005)
