Tom your genius. I like how you used all the Microsoft transfer from XP to Microsoft's seven software that's already out there. A lot of people don't know about that and it makes it a lot easier to do the upgrade

This is very good camera quality compared to most cameras at that time. Cameras like that might have been pretty expensive back then.

No you don't understand. I bought the retail box of the upgrade and I backed everything up on a 1tb extra drive in my computer. Clean install went great on a new 240gb SSD, now it won't allow me to activate it. I have 30 days before it becomes unusable. I have the XP software and the key, but what do I do with it, How do I get this to activate?

the best way to do dis is to make partitions on your computer, resize your C drive and make new partitions and backup your files there..or if you dont want to create new partition..there is also another way without having to get an external hard disk..in win 7 install, when it asks wich partition to install to, Choose C, or the drive where xp is installed, after installation, go to C/the drive where u install win7, u will find all ur files in a folder called windows.old
HAVE FUN WITH WINDOWS 7

@masonstutorials no, just boot from the disk, goto custom install, delete partitions, make a new one, or just install to the whole hard drive.
The backing up is only recommended if you have files you want to keep, such as pictures etc etc.

Very nice tutorial, thinking of buying a Windows 7 disk to update our ancient Windows XP laptop with a Pentium 4 and 2gb of RAM :D

Does this help me save my Windows XP product key?I want to upgrade my activated Windows XP to Windows 7, with my Windows 7 activated due to my activated Windows XP, but I don't know how...Or is it I have to use Windows Easy Transfer to transfer EVERYTHING from my Windows XP to Windows 7?

on your Vista computer, search for windows 7 upgrade adviser. it should be available if you regularly do your windows updates. its a small application that references your Vista specs with information online to see what is compatible

Thanks, I was going to do an upgrade, but I haven't got my new RAM stick yet, I'll have to add it before I upgrade. You saved me from a lot of problems.

if u clean install it wil completely erase ur hard drive. It doesnt remove ur ability to burn CD's/DVD's. You have that ability because you have a CD/DVD RW Drive. You will however need to install the application to burn data again such as nero etc.
Sometimes however there are driver issues. If that is the case you just update the driver

Or you could do what I did on my work laptop. I upgraded from xp to vista, then from vista to 7. Was pretty nice cause I didn't have to reinstall any software and the upgrade did all the work for me.

This video was made 5 years ago. I could never recommend upgrading from XP to 7 using the same hardware. If you have a Pentium 4 with 1GB of RAM and your computer is slow running XP you will become suicidal with 7 on that same hardware. It is better to buy a new computer with 7 pre-installed.

@sweetzefron only the files on C because windows is probably installed on it and that is the partition that you will install windows 7 on. Your D and G wont be affected.
