OUTDATED - Windows Update v6 Still Works In Windows XP In 2024!

Hi everyone, welcome back to another video on the channel. Today, will be showing you how to get updates from Windows Update v6 which is known as the Windows Update website.

All the way back in 2006, Microsoft released their final version of the Windows Update Website which is known as Windows Update v6. But when Microsoft took down almost all their versions of Windows Update from the web, Windows Update v6 was the only one that wasn't taken down, and continued to live on until late 2020, or so we thought.

Microsoft removed SHA-1 code signing from their update servers, which made it so you couldn't even access Windows Update v6, but with a few tweaks, you can access the website, download and install updates, and even view your update history.

DISCLAMER: Damages to your PC shouldn't occur during this process, but just incase, please back up all your files, make a system restore point, and or try this on a Virtual Machine or on and older PC first. I am not responsible for anything that goes wrong.

PLEASE NOTE: This method does NOT work on Windows XP Home Edition.

Unfortunately, this method does not work with Home Edition. They suggested Windows Update Restored V4 on Discord, but it doesn't work either, for some reason it says "Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page." (My English is very bad, I used Google Translate, sorry.)

Adam, I followed every single step to the "T" just changed my proxy localhost port to 8079 not 8080 Internet Explorer Updates said "checking to see if you have updated software for this then i got the dreaded Error 0x800EFD, please advise

It only downloads the old previous update isn’t it? It’s not like there are new updates release is that right? The problem I keep having is browsing the web! I cannot browse with internet explorer or chrome or anything like that? What browser would you guys recommend that would work in 2023 on windows xp?

Hey! for me its showing the error 0x80072efd when it tries to search for updates. Somebody know how to fix this? I really need this because i need my geforce 8500gt to get recognized.

I tried twice, but without success, I followed the video to the letter, scrupulously following all the steps, I tried it with two different types of XP, but the Microsoft updates page appears incomplete to me, I wanted to know which type of XP you are using in the video, and maybe where you can find it, or if any type of XP except Home Editiom is fine, or do you need a specific one

After installing all updates, can i revert all modified settings back to default?
