How To Upgrade From Windows XP/Vista To Windows 10

Demonstration of the clean upgrade process from Windows XP., and similarly Windows Vista, to Windows 10. Note this is a CLEAN install (meaning previously installed programs, files, etc. will be deleted). It is recommended to backup all important files to either online storage or removable device.

An alternative workaround for a "upgrade" to the existing OS would be to upgrade to either Windows 7/8.1 before upgrading to Windows 10 (which requires a legitimate license for those respective versions of Windows before satisfying the "free" upgrade requirement). My advice: buy a less expensive copy of Windows 7 or 8 then proceed to redeem the free upgrade offer to Windows 10 (with your files intact). Please note this is the same process for users of Windows XP and Windows Vista.

To the people that have a problem with this video: I never said it was a free upgrade for users of XP and Vista. (I clearly said this at 0:12 into the video). Everything shown on the internet is not going to be free. I made this video to help give a walk-through of the process of upgrading to Windows 10. To everyone else, I hope this tutorial will help you guys out if and when you decide to upgrade.

I wouldn't suggest doing this on actual hardware. If you have a Windows XP computer you shouldn't upgrade it to Windows 10. Old computers are not designed for modern technology like Win10. If you were to do so, your computer would be extremely slow and the drivers would be outdated. I've used a XP computer that was upgraded to Windows 10. It took 30 seconds just to open file explorer and it blue screens very often. I'm currently using a cd to downgrade it back to Windows XP lol.

"An alternative workaround for a "upgrade" to the existing OS would be to upgrade to either WIndows 7/8.1 before upgrading to Windows 10 (which requires a legitimate license for those respective versions of Windows before satisfying the "free" upgrade requirement)." Not possible. You cannot upgrade Windows XP to 7 or Windows Vista to 8.1 without losing data. Here is how you can upgrade from XP/Vista to 10.

XP:
1. Convert from FAT32 to NTFS
2. Upgrade XP to Vista
3. Upgrade Vista to 7
4. Upgrade 7 to 10
Vista:
1. Upgrade Vista to 7
2. Upgrade Windows 7 to 10
