He's right. It all boils down to profit. If we stop buying, their sales will go down. If that happens they'll have to figure out a way to sale more, which would mean price cuts.

I've noticed a lot of sets that would normally be sold out on their website aren't any more.

Figured it was because oil is expensive and they need oil to make the plastic to mold the pieces

Lego has never been cheaper. Demand for larger, more detailed sets just rose. Most of the lines with basic bricks most comparative to vintage Lego, i.e. Creator and Classic are the most bang-for-your bucks sets ever imo.
