I'm glad we've started to learn how to breed them in captivity. It's not perfect yet, But hopefully soon we can stop taking them out of the wild :(

That's incredible that you have hermit crabs that gove birth in captivity! I still own a little hermit crab care book from when i owned them as a kid. Back then, it hadnt been recorded yet of any captive births. Even today, it's super rare. Their enclosures are awesome, i can tell they feel right at home :)

Hermit crabs are so fun. When I was a kid, one of my neighbors had a huge tank like yours. We made little huts and ramps out of Legos. The crabs seemed to enjoy exploring when new things were added or removed from the tank.

As far as i know (which isn't much) as they grow in size hermit crabs look for bigger shells to move into in the wild. You do that? You gather shells and present them for them to choose which one to move into? If that's so, that's super cool, it's like you're their real state agent !! 😂😂
