Damn this video actually explained so much to me, so thank you!

I trained boxing first but had to quit because of a spinal surgery that I had at 14 (spinal fusion because of scoliosis) then started mma and did that from 15 to 18 but then had to have an other back surgery which lead to me dying for over 90 seconds and a lot of brain damage. I've finally been able to start training again now at 23 and regained most function of my body (still a bit stiff lol) but a lot of memories just don't exist anymore, while before I had a near perfect memory. Now that I can train again I find myself using shells a lot even in boxing but have no clue why and this filled in some blank spots for me so from the bottom of my heart, thank you!

Kajan is the best coach man. He coaches kids a few days of the week and man the kids pick up methods and skills right away. Plus awesome guy overall

Take a step forward and roll under——even better——step, jab, step forward and roll under.

Yup 100% shell. That is basically what nate and strickland are doing. If you practice short effective wrist blocks like karate use, you can actually hurt them by just blocking. I took kickboxing and used the boxing guard to block, but just as kajan said, I got fkin smoked right through my guard due to the small gloves. I then switched back to karate blocks and mostly side stepping. There is no sub for having good foot work. No get hit if no be there! Move constantly and try to catch the angle especially stepping in, not backwards, step to the side and forward and turn in, this is the only incidence where a kata style movement makes sense, side step and cut your stance towards their side as your throwing something, usually to the body or ribs. Watch lyoto machida he is a pro at this

Although your shell technique is good but I still believe that practicing your head movement with putting a step back with leg and leaning backwards with your arm down (just like Floyd Mayweather) is much better and works for me big time as you have all the view of your opponent who is totally open and vulnerable to your any attack as your opponent will be finishing with his punch and his hand has already passed your face you can hit him with your counter right or a beautiful uppercut which can take his lights out almost every time you land it perfect. I won my 15 fights when I used to be in province level championship back in my home country. But yes you gotta practice that alot for that to master.
