Levy on stream: salty and snarky.

Levy on YT: informative and professional.

Thanks, I am now slightly less likely to get back rank checkmated

I attacked my counter, and now the kitchen is a mess, and my wife’s unhappy. I need level 99 defense now.

I definitely like the "keep it simple" approach Levy. Defense is tough because you're not often going to see the best moves in positions that require strong answers as a beginner, but this is very helpful for learning what you need to look for and develop at least some awareness

I love these vids Levy. Never has a chess youtuber made chess lessons look easy and understandable. Other chess videos are either boring, or are very complex. Your vids fall into the category of easy to understand, yet still packed with a lot of info. Keep making these videos.

A really simple and useful way of thinking is asking yourself where you would like your pieces to be and then working backward and figuring out how to get into that position. I do this a lot and it often helps me develop an attacking plan. I’m only rated around 850-950 in rapid and 750 in blitz but I’ve improved my blitz rating so I’m happy about that. My goal is to get to 1000 right now. I need to get to 1000! I won’t take it anymore! I wanna be a NOVICE not a beginner! People will still laugh and snicker but at least they’ll be laughing at 4 digits goddamnit!

Thanks for the video :)

Great lesson! I actually had a game last night where I deployed some particularly dangerous counter attacking defensive ideas. It felt like a good move at the time, but I wasn’t sure how good of an idea it was to counter attack instead of stoutly defending my pieces. Now I know it was a good play and I wasn’t just fortunate in that situation. Cheers.

Level 3 defending: not letting the attack happening in the first place

Thank you so much Levy. Thanks to these lessons, I finally dusted off my lichess account, and reclaimed the dignity I lost all those years ago... I'm finally at the original 1500 point starting rating again! Lmao, on a serious note, these lessons are explained so so well, and I know I'll go far thanks to you :)

Thanks for the video. It's the first one I've seen on defending. Definitely just as important as many of the other concepts on attacking and gambits I have watched.

IM Levy Rozman, I've watched a bunch of your vids the last month, and you have an excellent teaching style. I've learned a great deal, and finally winning games I was losing. This is a good primer on parrying attacks, and looking for counter attacks.
Thx again!
