Not gonna lie. The new defending has completely turned me off the game this year. Played since the mega drive days..

It's impossible to defend in this year's game, it's just discouraging
Any small wrong move and you get a goal, a goalkeeper who doesn't know how to jump or catch the ball, and players who just stand without moving or helping the defenders to protect the goal
FIFA should solve this in the next update of the game, we can't play like this

I know this is an old video and people have probably figured it out by now, but Playstyles are extremely important for defenders. Some of the animations you can get with a Seal-out, if they have Bruiser+ or even only Bruiser are just nuts. Same thing with Anticipate+ and Standing Tackles.

I have to come to say THANK YOU. I was not bad in fifa 23 defending, but fc24 right stick switching has been SUPER WIERD for me. Tilted the sensitivity to 7 or 8 after watching your video and my mannual switching is finally back! Great video and keep up. wish to see more of your uploads!

try it this way when you tackle as you get close to the opponent, press X then immediately hold the R1+ circle for a moment.
This way the x will automatically get you closer to the opponent to then r1+ circle will win you the ball. it works like magic against all sorts of dribbling.

Had the same feeling . Was in Elite Division now cant get past Div7 . Im not enjoying this gameplay had to tell myself have to accept the changes and learn so thank you for letting me know im not the only 1... will try this out soonest and comment further

Honestly, play the computer on legendary or ultimate difficulty for a few games then go play online. You'll learn how to anticipate movements. The keys to defending, regardless of what settings you have it on, are positioning to intercept passing lanes and stopping a run, utilizing help defense, and just anticipating when someone is going to change direction in their dribbling. Circular strafing also disrupts a person's dribble move timing.

Guys like to go to the end line inside the box and pass it back towards middle. Cut that lane off and he'll be forced to shoot it right at the goalies feet. Double tap and hold RB and your teammates will tightly mark inside the box so you can focus on your matchup.

Always expect a change in direction if your defender is keeping pace with the dribbler. It's better to lose the race on the sidelines than to give up the middle.

This has literally been my defending story😂😂...and one last piece was left...right stick switching at 8. I play it at 6 and I always wonder WT* is wrong with it😂. Game changer, literally.

I thought i was the only one find FC 24 hard defending.. makes me angry when defenders you dont control backing out or just watch the on ball player glide past them.

For me, 2 player pressing has improved my defending the most. Works great when wingers try to get past close to the side line. With 2 player pressing they are surrounded and cannot move or pass in any direction, once they get close enough.
