That brief, heartbreaking moment when Loki realizes he's been an ass to the mother he adores and gives that "I'm an idiot" head shake as he goes to her to console and apologize with affection....only she's not really there. And when she's gone, that tight, eye-closed expression of regret that tells us all he actually really loves her. That, my friends, is subtext through acting and he is amazing at it.

While everyone is rightfully praising Tom's performance, I have to give some credit also to Rene Russo. The way she tries to smile and laugh to hide the pain his words caused her, the tears in her eyes as the hologram fades away etc.

He hesitated before saying "you are not", he didn't said it inmediatly, because he didn't wanted to say it but his ego took over him and he did anyways. Loki truly loved Frigga, and Frigga truly loved Loki. The way he keeps calm until the guard is gone and then destroys everything in the room while being alone, ending up completely broken and a mess. He probably thinks she died thinking that he hated her just like everyone else. And now he can't apologize. The least he can do is ask "did she suffered?" he doesn't know what else to do.


Yeah. This is why I love Loki. This is why I love what the MCU and Tom Hiddleston have been doing with him since the beginning.

Loki didn't want to hurt Frigga and he obviously regret saying that... But isn't it quite true that many a time we knowingly or unknowingly take out our anger or end up being rude to our mother or the person whom we love the most though we didn't meant to....
Loki is a God, but the humanness in him is what touch the audience the most.
No doubt he is a beloved character even with so many flaws

Loki is normally so quick about stating his opinion and insults without hesitation but when Frigga asked him “Then am I Not you’re mother” he hesitated and even when saying she wasn’t he had a quiet voice and seemed to be forcing the words out his mouth
I love this scene for that reason because Loki has no hesitation in telling every other part of his adopted family that they aren’t his family, but when it comes to Frigga it’s so difficult for him and unlike the others he regrets it

His mother who loved him no matter what, who taught him her magic, who raised him lovingly as her own... and his last words to her were to disown her all because of his foolish stubborness and pride. Like some stupid rebellious teenager throwing a tantrum and the mother taking the burnt of his frustrations, because he is too far gone to care and remember she has and always will, be his unconditional support.
Taking it all for granted, ungrateful. And now she's gone and never coming back.

The sense of loss and the regret he must have felt upon realizing this would have been overwhelming. Enraged at himself, at her murderers, the guilt, the sorrow, the powerlessness, the painful reality hitting full force.

This is how I felt when I first watched this part of the movie and even now I hold back my tears because I can't bear the thought to be in Loki's shoes.
I think we all tend to think our parents are immortal somehow and neglect them. We forget that time is precious, and pass to quickly and I'd really hate it if mine were to go so suddenly before I got to spend quality time with them. Or worse, leave them on harsh words I don't mean like Loki did.
