Ewan McGregor after spending weeks in the desert to film "Kenobi":
_"I TOTALLY FUCKING GET IT, ANAKIN!"_

I was surprised people did not like his protrayal of Anakin. I remember my dad and I praised him for his facial expressions during AOTC and ROTS. Maybe my dad didn't understand the written dialogue?

I agree that Hayden played Anakin perfectly and I think that people are now finally catching on to that.

Anakin was an engineer. Trying to maintain a clean environment for his intricate and detailed machine building on a sand planet. It gets everywhere.

What’s funny is that for me out of all the scenes I did have issues with, acting, or script etc. the I don’t like sand scene was one I actually understood and I did feel the emotion and understand Anakins pain and feelings towards that subject.

I always thought the “I don’t like sand” scene was partly an inside joke from George Lucas, considering the original trilogy being filmed so much in the desert, the sand must have gotten into the camera and production gear so much, it must have been awful working conditions

Ewan just makes me so happy to listen to. Even off screen he carries this elegance with him.

If Vader wasn’t wearing all black with a modulated voice, his lines would sound stiff and awkward. I always figured that Anakin had some issues and I could understand why he spoke and reacted the way he did to things.

ive always argued that Hayden Christensen did a great job as Anakin. If you can look past the crappy dialogue, which was George Lucas' fault, Hayden had the attitude, the anger, the sadness all perfect.

On a side note, I absolutely love how similar Hayden Christiansen and Matt Lanter's voices have become.

It actually makes me so happy seeing you enjoy watching you’re heroes from you’re childhood finally seeing some of the amazing work you’ve made in the past about them.😀

His portrayal going to the dark side was absolutely masterful. Anyone who says otherwise does not understand acting. You can clearly tell his very slow graduation towards evil. Hayden killed it. Watching it live in theaters was a pleasure.

I hope Hayden sees your video on why he played Anakin perfectly. That man needs to know how much his fans love him!

Hayden’s facial expressions in RotS are particularly great, especially the glare he did at the camera before killing Wat Tambor. The delivery of the “I HATE YOU.” Was excellent, I always feel the rage behind it, it’s guttural, and feels genuine, he practically spat the words out, just like someone who was lividly enraged. As someone who had anger management issues as a kid, that line and the behaviour he was able to convey were perfect. He was able to show that despite the excruciating agony he was in, he only had his eyes and attention on Obi Wan, even as he combusted. Being able to convey livid rage, despite being cut up and frying on volcanic rocks is phenomenal.

As a guy who didn’t get the prequel trilogy until I was in my late teens/early 20’s, I’m STILL a prequel guy! I know I grew up watching the OT as a kid, and they ARE the foundation for which everything started and Empire is still the best Star Wars movie, but while watching the OT, I always wondered what the Jedi were like at the height of they’re power. The first time I saw “Duel of the Fates”, I knew that this was what it was supposed to be like. Thanks George!

The fact that Anakin himself understood that about himself shows that he's the right person for it. Wow man haha

I've always liked Hayden, I thought he did a great job in the two films he was in. I do prefer his performance in Revenge over Attack, but I'm also aware George isn't Quentin Tarantino when it comes to writing dialogue. I look forward to seeing these two again, even though I'm really nervous about the show.

The fact that these two are sitting next to each other and laughing makes me what to cry, like we’re so used to them as Anakin as Obiwan, we’re so caught up in the story that there enemy’s that by seeing them here together just gives me so much joy, just knowing that in reality they are still friends

I mean when you try to pick up and hold dry, hot desert sand it will always slip through your fingers. Pretty much like Anakin's life. He tried to hold on to every grain of sand and it burned him in the end.

I’m seeing a lot of prequels vs. OT in the comments and I will propose this:

The prequels showed more context to the deeper machinations of government and conspiracy while the OT had a masterful concept and told a great father/son redemption story.

Each is fantastic in their own right and I don’t think there’s a right answer. It’s just about what Star Wars means to you and what parts of the universe most resonate with you. For some, it’s watching a boy’s internal struggles destroy everything he fought so hard for. How he was the great unifier turned traitor due to manipulation and neglect. For others, it’s about the wholesome reunion and redemption of a family. How one boy’s optimistic persistence broke through to a father that had lost himself. For none, it’s about some random junker girl who became a master on her own lol.
