There's a Spider-Verse Quest in Spider-Man 2! (SPOILERS)

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!!

In Spider-Man 2 you're tasked with following signals and finding 42 Spider Bots that are mysteriously scattered all around the map!

If you eventually collect all 42 of the them, you'll get a mission called "The Mission" and you'll get to see an awesome cut scene that involved the Spider-Verse and might even hint at future content to come (maybe DLC?!) for the Spider-Man 2 game!

I didn't miss it actually. But I bet you missed the fact that you can pet Dima the tiger after the story. She's at the zoo where you fight along side Black Cat. Her enclosure is behind the building behind the rock if you enter from the front of the zoo.

Yeah I suspected from the start of this quest line this had some relation to the Spider-Verse based on the effects the Spider-Bots made (Which looked like the Spider-Verse portals) and the fact the Spider-Bots had different designs from different Spider-People around the Spider-Verse, there's also the fact that Insomniac Peter made a cameo in Across the Spider-Verse
