Barack and Michelle Obama delivered blistering critiques of Republican nominee Donald Trump while painting Vice President Kamala Harris as the heir of their historic political legacy in addresses that capped the second night of the Democratic National Convention. But in an election sprint both warned would go down to the wire they offered rebukes of the Republican standard-bearer. The former first lady began her remarks by describing the energy that she said was currently coursing through the party, stirring memories of a central theme of Obama’s 2008 run. Later, the former Democratic president drew similar parallels to his historic run.

But they also directed sharp jabs at Trump. The former first lady played off of a remark in the first presidential debate, saying Trump might not realize that “the job he’s currently seeking might just be one of those Black jobs.” Barack Obama mocked his Republican successor suggestively over his obsession with crowd size and called him a danger to the nation. The objective was clear — to assemble another broad coalition of progressives and moderates to deliver victory and finally vanquish Trump as he seeks the White House for a third consecutive cycle.

I’m a Japanese and watching this video in Japan. How powerful and persuasive Mr.and Mrs.Obama’s speeches are! The world is in quite a chaotic state now. As US is the strongest power in the world, it is very critical who the next U.S.President be. Though I’m not a US citizen and can’t actually vote for her, at least what I can do is to pray that Kamala Harris be the Next U.S. President.

That was the most amazing speech of hope, harmony and community. What an amazing incredible man who despite his brilliance is so humble and genuine. I for the first time feel there is hope not just for the US but the world. Let's hope the sincerity of Obama's words, his dignified respect for all may help unveil the deceit and lies that the opposing party has engaged in for far too long. The USA either survives and flourishes working together as best as its citizens can or unleashed hatred and vitriol will be the norm. Obama is inspiring in every way. He doesn't pretend things are easy, but he delights in the good and positivity that people can hold in their hearts and minds. He brings harmony and hope. the other alternative is Trump with hate and harm. I so deeply hope Kamala Harris and her amazing team soon take hold of the highest office in the land. Then the healing can begin, and hope be renewed.
