I was 9 year old son of a Mexican immigrant and a victim to racist bullies everyday when he won. I remember crying my eyes at the tv screen. He gave me hope. He told me everything they said to me was a lie. He told me I could rise above them all.

I know when I cast my vote in November, a 9 year old Mexican kid will be crying at the TV screen knowing his parents will be safe. I know a white family with a trans kid will be crying at the tv screen knowing they will be safe. I know a black girl that gets underestimated and picked on is going to cry at the tv screen, because she’ll know she can rise above all her doubters and achieve anything she wants. I know every kid will feel that.

That’s what this about. Our future. We’re not going back.
