I only mix in Ableton. I create on a the Mpc or polyend hardware. Production on the computer doesn’t move me anymore.

As someone that uses both I know exactly what you mean about the MPC uses a different part of your brain. It’s almost like my sense of hearing gets amplified.

I just got the mpclive2 cus I’m sick of using computers. Is it possible to mute individual midi notes in a pattern… instead of deleting them? That way, you can change hi hat patterns in interesting ways but if it don’t sound good you can unmute them and the notes are still there.

Dope video and track. I've gone from the Push 3 to an OG MPC One running MPC 3.0. Things just come together more effortlessly on the MPC. The arranger in the MPC works fine. But I prefer to move everything to Ableton to arrange and mix. It's just more efficient than doing it on the small MPC screen. My only issue now is trying to sell my Push 3. With the recent moves Akai has made, teaming up with Native Instruments. It seems the value of products like the Push have dropped.

Ableton is like 3 features away from perfection!

This is why I wondered why akai wanted to have a full DAW with MPC 3.0
The draw of a stand alone drum machine is catching a vibe and banging some shit out without worrying about the bigger picture. Dump the idea into a DAW and flesh out the track there. MPCs were always just a piece of the puzzle

This is exactly why I switched from MPC software and hardware. Ableton has too many benefits! Warp, midi and audio chopping are what easier in Ableton. Push 2/3 has way more going on. All my VSTs just work. None of my Arturia worked with MPC software. It would crash and be unreliable. This one is better!!

Nice video. I’m curious about how you’d feel about adding Tascam Model 12 to the MPC Key. It connects with 1 usb cable and gives you a physical mixer with 8 separate physical mixer tracks.

Controller mode answers all your mentioned concerns. See everything at once on your cpu screen, see the focused gui on the Device.

Using the mpc as a vst inside ableton with the device attached, even better. Thats how Andy Mac (the front man of akai) uses it on his page

Do you track your audio in live through your interface, or do you stem everything out and transfer those stems over to Ableton? Curious

Great topic, Champ 👍. What controller is that you're using to control Ableton?

Man i f3el you but the mpc is standalone. The screen not big enough to inclufe everything your trying to do. Ive done platinum records with the mpc 3.0 software. Ableton is a beast in its own right

You know Akai remembers your midi input with retrospective mode right? You don’t ever have to hit record …ever lol

Did you export it as an ableton project or just export the stems
