I just had the sleeves on my jacket shortened, and my tailer did exactly the same thing like what you had done here - not leaving the gap between the elbow patch and the cuff. It probably wouldn't affect anything like you said. Nice jacket and I've got a lot of compliments for it.

Update: I really wish this jacket had hand pockets. The cargo pockets are ok, but you end up goosenecking your wrist the entire time and the pockets aren't lined, so they don't exactly warm your hands.

I've spent 2 autumns and winters in this jacket so far and I can say with certainty that it is NOT made for winter. Your arms will freeze because of the nylon lining.

Bought one of these for 399 direct from Barbour, sold it on eBay when I realised it was made in Bulgaria, also has a water proof membrane can get very sweaty on a mild day

Thank you for this review I found it most informative, I will buy the green one soon & It's not a jacket you see most people wearing today and I like the cut and Style. It will last me for many years to come. Living in the UK it rains a lot in the winter so this jacket will be ideal for me.

The bond jacket (commander) now called beacon sports ... is a remake of a much older jacket which had a hood it was called ” x to ki to” The one Daniel Craig wore was an original with hood cut off ..

I have the quilt version of the beacon sport .. which I actually bought from the South Shields store wear they are made ... been there today and bought a “corbridge” funny enough..

Great review, Barbour should expand the South Shield facility. People want the Made in England part of the brand. I have a Classic Bedale, made in the UK and it’s an amazing jacket. Do wish it had the secret pocket and the inner pocket have a zip so not perfect. Might pay a visit to a tailor to see what can be done.

What size did you buy? I've read that it runs small and the measurements make it seems like a Beacon Size L = Ashby Size S

Forgot to mention there is another inner polyester lining under the cotton one, gonna be sweaty if it’s not very cold weather

It is a ‘game pocket’! Rabbit, pheasant whatever your shoot. Barbour made their earlier jackets for men, even the Gentry really, who hunted.
Daniel Craig is not of that ilk! He’s an actor of course but wors a jacket of this style in the film Skyfall, which has hiked up the cost of this jacket. It’s a lovely jacket. £400 lovely? That’s your call.

I'm 5'7 and weigh 160lbs, my chest ranges from a 37in to 38in. I like a tailor fit, but I would like to wear a sweater underneath the jacket every so often and just a shirt every so often as well. Do you suggest a small or medium?

Nice piece and nice Jacket - but with the Bedale Beaufort International and Sapper - all of which I own - I am not convinced you understand the meaning of Iconic.

A great British is it? I doubt if it was Made in England from what I can see from the lable. Much of the Barbour stuff is now outsourced and no longer made in the UK.
