18 months ago I started a SOC (Security Operations Center) internship which turned into a full-time job even before getting my CS degree in August 2021. In a week I start as an Information Security Engineer making $90k/yr in the Mountain West region. They needed somebody who had a computer science background and experience in cybersecurity.

So many good career paths from a bachelor's in CS. But the key in my experience to making the most of your degree is developing your soft skills and being hungry to learn more.

I’m a welder and I am REALLY interested into going back to school for this degree. I’ve been listening to podcast and videos about the subject and reminded me that I have already worked with logic gates, Boolean algebra, created circuit boards and programmed an arduino back in my sophomore year of HS (2017-2018). I really loved that class but I didn’t know that it was related to computer science (I didn’t even know about the concept of computer science at the time either lmao) or else I would’ve went to university for that instead of business. I’m a welder now cuz I found out I wasn’t interested working in business💀
