Ultra Square Medium Sized Crosscut Sled

In This week’s woodworking build I show you how to make this ultra square medium sized crosscut sled paired with a Katz-Moses No Deflection Universal Stop Block. I use William Ng’s 5 cut method to square the fence. Having a crosscut sled in the shop is a MUST for any woodworker. They help you safely and repeatedly cross cut parts. They also create a zero clearance so you don’t get tear out. I got rid of my miter saw as soon as I built a good crosscut sled. I really can’t wait to see what you create! Guys, Moses, Tamar ( 3x3 Custom ), & Jason Hibbs ( Bourbon Moth Woodworking ) are the strongest You Tube channels to follow. To take the play out of the runners, just iron on a strip of melamine edge banding to the edges of the runners, trim off the excess and sand the edges. When waxed, the edge banding also runs smoothly. If slightly tight, just sand each side that was edged. Works for me. This is a good video and great for newcomers to woodworking!! Bought a Katz Moses stop block. I LOVE it. Best stop block by a country mile! Very reasonable price, too. The stop block has as much integrity as the creator and that's saying a lot!

Yesterday I was chasing 90 degrees with no luck and realized I forgot to divide by 4. Today I got back at it and got to 0.00104 using playing cards. Thanks for the instruction!

Thank you for all the content you put out. I recently had to make two sleds. I had to watch this video over and over. I just couldn’t make it work. I ales watched William Nag’s video. You are cutting on the right side of the blade. William cuts on the left side. You instruct the viewer to move the fence towards the user if you get negative number and away if you get a positive number. William instructs the opposite. I did figure out why. But I think it should have been explained why. Not a critique. I value you sharing your love for wood working. I’ve learned so much from you.

Love the build. Only thing I did different is put 2 T-tracks running parallel to the runners so I could add more clamping options. Also a safety block for the blade coming through is worth mentioning.

I have watched over 30 videos on crosscut sleds. I blame a combination of COVID boredom and my dissatisfaction with the first one I built several years ago and no longer have.
