I'm part Viking by a DNA test and this is my take on Odin. He could've existed before Vikings decided to follow Odin to Valhalla way before anything started. Vikings never had scriptures as a practice or any book written to determine Odin's existence because of the nature of the religion and a lack of electronics and also paper was used under holy nature so it was extremely expensive to even get paper and Vikings wanted wealth over anything else and many Vikings never learnt how to read and write. Christians wrote scriptures for decades in Latin of the Holy god and Jesus but what people forget that our minds are extremely powerful we can believe in anything we want. This in fact doesn't debunk that Odin didn't exist and to be religious is to have faith that god or a god exists (Faith) we don't know if Jesus exists because of how the meaning of the religion keeps changing over time and again there's stories. Who are we to say that if there's no concrete evidence of Odin existing that doesn't mean that he did or didn't exist if his name wasn't written down on paper.
