Charging speed is really disappointing, otherwise - a brilliant car, and reasonably priced, too. Would love to have all wheel drive and sliding back seats to have more storage space though. Hope that sound insulation is better than in the old one, which had virtually none. Nice review, thanks.

In an age where more and more 100kw plus chargers are popping up including Tesla now opening their network, Kia have really not done enough by means of their charging speed with the Niro. Even if people go long distances irregularly over 200 miles, they'd still prefer to top up for 20 minutes versus 40 (especially with kids). If the likes of Peugeot and Skoda can manage better, then there's no real excuse at this price point. My Chinese made (MG5 long range) can manage 77kw and peaks at times to 90kw, but it costs alot less and still does between 200-300 miles and matches Kia's 7 year warranty ...

You probably already know but i will mention it anyways. You pointed out that roads in Norway where better maintained than in UK and they most certainly are but roads in Scandinavia are heavily trafficked with studded tyres during winter and therefor our roads have small perforations that increase road noise compare to a central European country where studded tyres are not used. So unless you review all cars on Scandinavian roads its not a fair noise comparison. Great video btw.

I couldn't care less about charging speed as the rest of the car I still love it and look forward to it being my next EV after my current lease ends in 2yrs on my Ioniq EV(28). It has the range I want as well with about 400-450km range and more efficient than the original eNiro.

Probably the Niro got nerfed due to the EV6 being a thing. If it could charge faster, it could cannibalise sales of the EV6.

For me this has sorted out the one downside to the previous car, the styling. I think it looks fantastic and Kia/Hyundai once again producing a great looking car with its own identity. Range seems perfectly fine and good that Kia have resisted adding more weight just for headline figures. I think for most people, this would be a once a week charge which doesn't seem unreasonable. Charging times are more than just a quoted peak speed only achievable in optimum conditions and so it will be interesting to see a charge cycle before passing judgement on this aspect of the car. Great looking car and looking forward to seeing one on the UK roads.

How did you find the headrest? I test drove the EV6 and didn’t proceed as the headrest was very uncomfortable. Disappointed to see the same style added to this car.

Being a Kia owner with brilliant dealer service I'm extremely under impressed with option levels and the very dull styling. Such a shame as 7 year cover is a real bonus.
Kia need to bring out a smaller electric Suv, no such thing yet, unfortunately. They are missing a real niche. Why on earth the Sportage didn't go electric baffles me also. Don't even do a plug in hybrid unless you go for the most expensive model.

I love it! I own a 2020 Niro EV (US) and the only thing I don't like about it is the back up pedestrian warning sound. Please tell me they adjusted the volume on that with the vehicle you drove.

Bit Ford Focus (Original model) from rear, love the superlong high level brake light, don't like c pillar in different colour!

I still don't understand why no reviews ever highlight that there's still a latch under the bonnet to open. The Tesla's are the only vehicles that only have this and it makes the frunk much more accessible instead of having to fiddle your finger under the bonnet lip to find the latch!
That charging speed is nothing to write home about, but I suspect in the Real World, Kia has done their homework and realised, most people just won't notice - I doubt this is used by 99% of its customers for long distance driving regularly where it needs a recharge in 15 minutes.

Interesting review. I had a good look look around/sit in of the new Niro at the fully charged live show. I have to disagree with the internal build quality, yes the screen and infotainment is better and lifted from the EV6 design. However, internal build felt cheap to me compared to the original that felt more of a premium. For the money though you do get that winning range as did the original.
The reviewer pointed out the range has been beaten by others and I can't see that. The ID3 does not do over 300 miles but 259. There was a larger battery version of the ID3 but that has been dropped and was well over 40K. As for the Enyaq, that is up against the EV6 and not the Niro. It is a shame there were not improvements in range and charging speed, however, it is at a competitive price so I guess compromises have to be made.

I would get the cheaper version to avoid that horrendous grey C pillar but that trickle charge of 72kW is a joke and 18 months waiting list will put many off inc myself

between this and Megane etech electric, which will you recommend?

I own a kia niro phew, and the absence of any kind of a spare wheel worries me on long journeys in rural areas. Will this be rectified in the new Niro.

Great quality of the video even without the camera man.

So the latest troll naysaying has moved on from not enough range to slow charging rates. Doubt if this is a concern for the typical buyers of this type of car. If this deters people from ordering then hopefully that will speed up deliveries for people who see this as fitting in with their lifestyle.

Aside from that C pillar panel, I like the design a lot!

Excellent review. Any news on when the EV4 might hit the market?

I was expecting more from the next version of this car to be honest. Also still having the front charging point, I'm not keen on that as a front on accident could end up very costly and also might prevent further charging until repaired
