This month is mental health awareness month. I just went through suicide awareness training for one of my volunteer positions. Mental health should be a consideration when choosing a vacation. While taking a vacation is great for your mental health not all vacations are suitable for some people who may have huge swings in their moods and anxiety levels.

My wife and I were on Quantum of the Seas inaugural sailing, and we found a gate open to the ocean. My wife guarded the gate and I got help. We stayed and did not leave till security locked it.

I think I can hazard a guess as to how he died. When I was in the Navy they taught us how to jump ship because when jumping from certain distances going through into water is akin to jumping off a tall building and hitting concrete if you don’t go into the water correctly. It’s likely he died of internal bleeding or any sort of trauma associated with jumping from tall buildings & hitting the ground.

The sad truth is, there's only so much anyone can do if someone is dedicated to "injure" themselves. It doesn't matter where they are. 😢

Oh no. Praying for the family and all that were involved in the rescue efforts and care. Also praying for the fellow passengers and crew. This is so tragic.

It doesn't take a cruise ship to end ones life. If this is something someone is intent on doing it can be done anywhere, anytime and almost every place. Very sad.

Prayers go out to family, I was on this cruise when it happed.. A lot of rumors onboard but we understand it happened ealry in morning. Sad to hear of this happening.

We were on the Icon in February. Walked that jog track every day and it is hard to go overboard unintentionally. The person purposely did this.

This is so sad that it keeps happening… I would have so much anxiety on a cruise ship. Too much chaos and I can’t get away.

A friend of mine is on that ship when this occurred. He txted me and told me it took more than 4 hrs to find him. Sad but yes you are right. It’s NOT RC fault. Maybe a cruise trip was NOT the right idea. My condolences to the family.

Icon isn't an easy ship to jump off like the older ships. A lot of the areas had 8ft glass in front of the rails. This was definitely intentional. He got what he wanted. Feel bad for his family

Oh gave some very good advice on getting a love one or friend help, if you know they’re going through something. Often we want to say that person needs a vacation cruise to get their mind off of a problem, but maybe it’s better for them to get professional help before going on that vacation cruise.
