Me: just wants to know how to build a farm

Seriously, this intro never gets old!

this video inspired me and thanks to it I actually found a cactus farm that beats all those, with tons of hoppers, hoppers are at same height as the sand, similar as xisuma design but more compact its 2 blocks lower thanks to hoppers and each floor is non symetric to the last one, i will send it to illmango to show him :) very very expensive build but with 99% efficiecy yet even more compact

Any chance you could remake this video for 1.19? We have chains and other interesting shaped blocks now! I plan on making an entire chunk devoted to a cactus farm (bedrock to sky limit - in java) and would love to make it as efficient as possible!

P.S.
I religiously watch your videos and love your content!

Thanks so much for all the amazing farms :)

I know this is an old video, but could you explain how you calculated the efficiency of the farms ?

Since a cactus takes 18.5 minutes to grow, we should get 60/18.5 = 3.24 cacti/H.
On the last farm (end rod one) which is the most efficient, you get a 95% efficiency for 16800 plants producing 38400 cacti/H.
My math gives me a 70% efficiency : 38400 / 16800 = 2.28 ; 2.28 * 100 / 3.24 = 70.37%.
Could you shine a light on why my result is different ?

Anyways, great video as always, thank you for all the math and research on cactus farms that is still useful 5 years later !

Edit: Figured it out, I was using the theoretical maximum cactus that grows, but not taking in account the ones that would fall onto the cactus itself, and forgot about the base 100% number of actually harvestable cactus of 2.38/h at the beginning of the video. Thank you so much !

ilmango made a large error here, with the water collection version, with 4x4 cactus, he put a glass block in the water flow, where the sand can be what the water flows around, making it 4 layers per farm rather than 5, making it 0.9 cactuses per hour per block and a tie for the hovering sand version, but much easier to build.

yeah good video on showing us the most effecient cactus farm but what we need is for you to show us how to actually build it.

Could you mix the Sethbling version with the end rod and cobblestone wall version? The sand would break the cactus, and the San would be held up by end rods, because they don’t break cactus.

Now just need to connect it to composter and compare the lag/rate of it with your water melon farm in the same rate.

Why so many farms just show the best one -_-

tldr; "I thought the last word had been made on cactus farms, but I was grossly underestimating myself."

Thanks for giving Xisuma a shoutout. He gives you one around every 1-3 hermitcraft video's ;)

So much depth in one video. Great job. I am always impressed by your dedication to making such comprehensive guides. When I saw the new compost bin, I immediately thought of trying it with cactus farms. Great timing for a optimized cactus farm video.

Also, there's a video bug at 19:30. You accidentally played the same clip twice in a row.

today i learned you can craft end rods :')

This man has my respects for making a thesis-like investigation to determine the efficiency of farm structures

16:20 for the actual farm, you're welcome guys

Couldn’t you get rid off the glass blocks in the improved Xisuma design?
Just place the sand in the water. Would make it more compact

ilmango did the video in a way where you progressively understand cactus farms and the way they work a little more each time he explained something with the various pros and cons of the designs. If my teachers were this good at teaching I'd be a lot smarter.
