Ethan's Story: Reducing Seizures Through Surgical Innovation

For five years Ethan battled epileptic seizures. After his seventh different medication failed, his family turned to the neurosciences team at Children's Hospital & Medical Center. Deemed a fit for surgical intervention, Ethan became one of the state of Nebraska's first pediatric Stereoelectroencephalography (sEEG) cases. This minimally invasive process helped determine the origin of his epileptic activity. After pinpointing the location, pediatric neurosurgeon Afshin Salehi, M.D, M.S., used Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT) to treat the impacted area.
