Title: Group theory meets metric spaces

Abstract: Metric spaces arise in analysis and groups arise in algebra.
This talk is about some of what happens when you combine these ideas.
We will see some classical results, in particular a famous theorem of
Gromov. We also touch on very recent work of the speaker with Ville
Kivioja, Enrico Le Donne, Sebastiano Nicolussi Golo and Alessandro
Ottazzi.
