I like how you had multiple items to compare against each other, and you showed footage of what it looks like. Most videos where people show you what they use lack that kind of presentation and information. You did not rush through things and you expressed your opinions on specific items.

This is very helpful for people considering spending money on video-making equipment and I don't think any other Youtube/Actor could have done better.

Thanks!

You are so cool for putting up this video. You not only helped me but I'm sure you've helped many others.

Thank you

Greg, you simply are brilliant. I love all your comedy videos, your sketches, your casual videos, and I especially love these informative ones. You are very natural on camera, and so easy to watch. You never fail to make my day!

@taxi911 It's an M-Audio Keystation 49e. I use it all the time, including on my new BEARD SONG video!

I've bought a Vado HD from Creative and it also has that problem that the software doesn't play the videofiles correctly. Since I bought it I've used a stream thingie called FFdshow that helped me import the video into Premiere, but I had to prerender the video in Premiere. Going to try that Mpeg Streamclip! Thanks for the tip.

@blancfilms You'll love it! Careful about the overheating issues though. Google it if you don't know.

@EvansStyle Hey that's cool of you to say, glad it was helpful.

@DrAlexisOlson It has nothing to do with Macs, it's the cameras that deliver compressed h264 mp4 video files (to save space on the cards). Although you actually CAN edit with them, it's not optimal and is better to convert them to ProRes.

@JordanCrowderFilms Pluraleyes is cool, but I usually just sync manually. I find it faster than waiting for Pluraleyes to do its thing.

Damn! I'm currently at work, where I don't have sound on my computer... I'm going to have to wait until I get home (about 5 hours from now...) to watch it! And I'm a geek for audio and video equipment & software!

I use the T2i as well and I also use the Flip Ultra HD which are both great cameras! My Flip has great audio!

@Claggy A lot of people use fully manual nikon prime lenses with the 5D/7D. The lenses have full control on aperture, and the camera's are some of the best performing video camera's under 2-3k.

@Claggy H.264 plus the fact that the cameras skip lines during recording means your edges aren't too clear. And you need a clean outline for greenscreen.

I use Super VHS exclusively, I can't say it's good but it is very cheap and straightforward. I was able to pick up a commercial grade SVHS deck for almost nothing which is what got me into it. Thanks for the info!

Brav-ah Greg. Very good vid. Informative. I have questions about audio equipment and you gave good insight.

I agree 100% on the Flip. I have one and all kinds of accessories and I'm starting to use my Epic more often for videos now. I still use the Flip if I'm using a tripod, but for just point and shoot, my phone wins.

got some good equipment there. I use a lot of the same stuff. I have an uncomfortable love affair with the Sony EX1. Love, love, LOVE that camera!
