'Chaos and dysfunction': Republicans score own goal with 'factional infighting'

Sky News host James Morrow says, despite the issues facing “day to day legislature” Republicans, Donald Trump has such a “wide gap” between himself and them that his polling will not be affected at all.

Mr Morrow explained how the Republicans’ “factional infighting” was an “own goal” as Democrats would look to blame them for a potential shutdown of the US government at the end of November.

“His brand is now very much a different sort of Republican brand than the congressional Republican brand,” he said.

“What I think it does mean though, is that there will be potentially an awful lot of moderate Republicans who will be tarred with the whole brush of chaos and dysfunction.

“This could hurt them in November, especially if Americans split their tickets and go Trump for the presidency but then want to balance him out with a Democrat.”
