I run everyday using the 80/20 principle. No big deal. 80% real easy Z1-Z2 running 20% speedwork. Listen to your body. People tend to run their slow runs to hard.

When I ran cross country in High School, there was no rest days, no days off. I suffered bursitis, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, etc.. During my senior year, I stopped running on the weekends without telling my coach and my runs significantly improved. We have to alternate surfaces, shoes and the type of training involved and yes rest the body.

On a 3184 day running streak that started on Dec 31, 2012. I've run at least 5 km a day, averaging 8 km a day. Strength training and stretches after runs has helped staying injury free. Glad I haven't fallen sick enough not to be able to run.

I am on day 368 of a 30 minute minimum. Alive, well, and uninjured.

I have run for 464 days in row. I didn't mean to run 464 in a row, but I had run 144 in a row in 2019 and when 2020 hit, I decided that I wanted to run 366 day in 2020. I have to say that I have never felt stronger. I ran 23 miles yesterday and it was awesome. I had a lot of the same thoughts as you about my body breaking down without any recovery days. However, I keep getting stronger. Keep getting it!

If I could live in a place with surroundings such scenic, clean and beautiful like that, I swear on my life that I would have been outdoors all the time! 😩

I did 30 days of nuclei overload training which included a full body workout and a 5k run every day for 30 days. No rest days. At day 25 I started to feel pretty fatigued. At day 28 I started to hurt and not in a good way. I was proud to have been able to complete the full 30 days but it's not something I'll do again anytime soon.

I been running 30 min a day
I have to push myself to get out of bed and I lost 4 pounds of fat so I’m stoked 💯

I couldn’t do a run streak, I would probably end up getting injured. I stick to running 5-6 days a week, average of 25 miles per week along with weight training sessions. That’s my bodies limit😅

I just finished a 10k/day for 31 days of October! Slow pace, sweet days... We feel so great when we achieve that kind of challenge. Once or twice a year, usually! Congrats

When I take my 1 rest day I feel like I can go harder on the days I’m not resting, without injuring myself. Also, it’s good to take a mental break from running

I feel like run streaks are okay as long as you listen to your body. Obviously no one wants an injury, but pushing through at any point when you're hurt to keep your run streak is a recipe for disaster

I like to live on the razors edge of overtraining and overrunning. But I’m in a boot and crutches so maybe don’t take advice from me.

its interesting to see different runners preferences/ needs as it pertains to rest...for me personally, I run basically every day whether im training for a race or not, and average somewhere between 30-50 miles a week. Haven't been injured really (since I changed my form a couple years ago), strength train an average of once a week, stretch maybe once a week, warmup for maybe 2 mins before most runs. But its really interesting to see runners talk about a "run streak" as being some type of obstacle. For me, I feel like id do 10x better running a 50 mile week but running it over 7 days than I would running a 60 mile week with a rest day or 2 worked in. Weekly mileage is basically all that matters for my body.

If you try to have multiple “real workouts” (eg speed, tempo, etc) in a week, then it won’t end up well. But if you run slow in the “off” days, it’s not much different than doing something in the cross trainer or bike.

Doing different types of workouts on different days (even including some cross-training) with changing goals is what keeps things interesting. 30 days of the same thing with no goals other than 30 minutes would get pretty boring and monotonous. But, it would still be fun to try once, just not in the middle of a training program.

I'm a very slow runner, but I love just running every day. My longest streak is 200 days, but I usually will do 20-40 before something comes up and I have to skip a day. I vary the runs quite a bit, mixing in 5, 8, 10 and 13 mile routes, some days slow and some days "fast."

It took me quite a few years to build up to this point, and as with any running, you have to figure out what works for you.

I’m a streak runner. Started 3 months ago. One rule of streak running that I follow is the active rest day which is when you run just one mile to “keep the streak” and you run it slowly, within your aerobic zone.

Injury risk if we don't vary the intensity.
