How to reset a Mikrotik HAP AC2

In this video I'll show you how to reset a Mikrotik HAP AC2 (squared) incase you can't access the configuration settings on the router. This happens quite a lot, but luckily it's very easy to reset to regain access to the configuration and update your WiFi and internet settings.

*Before you reset your router* if your ISP used PPPoE please ensure you have these login details so you can add them back in. At Atomic we don't use PPPoE and this video is not made to assist with other ISPs services.

Hi, today I bought a used Hap ac², but I can't seem to reset it. I hold the reset button before plugging it in, but nothing happens, the preconfigured wifi still appears. I noticed the flashes on the usr light are slightly slower than yours, though.

Does this affect the internal storage of the Mikrotik?

I just wanna know if there is anyways to turn off the wifi without resetting it because I bought a separate router I don't wanna lose the internet I live in a rural area and it take the guy days to come check on my internet

Pls why wont the router be picked up, I reset it but normally the wifi would pic up and woulf allow me to go to the log in page or via ethernet I could ebter the IP and th4 gain access to the router now it does not pick up the router??

I can't get past the login page. I leave the password blank and it tells me invalid username or password.

This way, it is impossible to reset the router's admin password: after resetting, the router in winbox expects a proper username and password and does not accept the default one. So how to reset it when you lose or forgot the password?

There's no such thing as a "local IP address." You're getting an RFC1918 range address from a dhcpd server on the Mikrotik. This (using a direct Ethernet connection to the hAP) worked for me once but I made the mistake of trying to set a the admin password at some point and the router became misconfigured.
So I reset again and now I can't connect using Ethernet AND there is not WiFi beacon being broadcast. RouterOS is not appropriate for home or SOHO environments. The web configurator is crap, and everyone on the forums says you should be using the Windows exe instead. Great. I don't use Windows at all, anywhere.
