On April 7, 2025, an avalanche occurred on Mount Annapurna between Camp 2 and Camp 3, resulting in two Nepali Sherpa guides going missing. The missing individuals have been identified as Rima Rinje Sherpa and Ngima Tashi Sherpa, both from the Solukhumbu district. They were carrying oxygen cylinders to support summit climbers when the avalanche struck.

Immediate search efforts were initiated by fellow Sherpas and aerial inspection was conducted until nightfall, but as of now, the two guides have not been located. Rescue operations are set to continue with additional helicopter searches.

This incident occurred during a period of significant summit activity on Annapurna, with multiple teams reaching the peak. The avalanche has disrupted the route between Camp 2 and Camp 3, posing additional challenges for climbers descending from higher camps.

The Department of Tourism has reported that 42 climbers from four expedition teams have obtained permits for Annapurna this spring season.

Rescue teams are continuing their efforts to locate the missing Sherpas, and updates are expected as the situation develops.
