A comprehensive and fully illustrated history of the evolution of Christianity. This volume was written for individuals who have realised that basing one’s worldview on consensus of opinion, popular myth and fable is quite unproductive. In this context, this book would be of immense value for anyone who seeks genuine, factual and scientific answers concerning their unexamined beliefs. This book promises to assist anyone who desires to become a well-informed and self-actualised individual empowered to continue on with their life as both a rational and critical thinker. Consequently, this volume is aimed primarily at perceptive and motivated individuals who may lack the necessary background knowledge but who would sincerely and genuinely, desire to become more knowledgeable regarding the evolution and manifestation of Christianity and its contrary dogmas. Accordingly, this encyclopaedic book has been carefully designed and set out in order to offer the reader a step-by-step edification. Researched and written by an historiographer who specialises in the religious expression of the Hellenistic world, this book promises to be of great benefit for the more serious student of religious beliefs. Here they will find the most up-to-date information on, inter alia, ancient polytheism, early Israelite and Judahite monolatrism, Zoroastrianism, Zurvanism, various branches of Judaism, Apocalypticism, Greek and Roman mysteria, Gnosticism, and nascent Christianity.

I like Jacob's style. He makes the show about the guest and not him. Its cerebral and not emotional. Its refreshing.

No historian mentions Jesus Apostles miracles Paul anywhere in any historical record from that era.
Josephus and Tactius were born and wrote decades later after Jesus.
Pliny the elder makes no mention of Jesus or miracles from any Roman records from that exact time period.
Only second hand accounts testimonials.

If someone said they had a VIRGIN BIRTH or resurrected from the dead, we wouldn't believe that person because it is NOT POSSIBLE.

One of the best basic short intro explanations of the "gnostic" theological framework, most appreciated. Will get the book!

This was a fun discussion. I like some of the ideas and concepts of Gnosticism. I love the Gnostic texts. ❤

Dr. Allen's interviews remind me of why mythicism remains a valid hypothesis. The earliest Christ followers had radically different views of what or who he was. There was no single early "church" founded by Jesus (sorry, Mormons). There is no independent info or attestation of a human Jesus outside Paul & the various gospels, muvh of which is simply GrecoRoman elite lit with a Jewish core. Josephus passages overwhelmingly look 100% interpolated. Crestos v Christos is a problem. Pretty much every surviving text is corrupted or variant in various ways. The magical healer wonder worjer Jesus is all myth, common to con men of the day (and still now!) Any human Jesus who was an antiRoman-collaborators as described as leading various actions & drawing massive crowds would have been noted in Josephus & by other Romans of the day. Instead his rebel actions all seem copies of Josephus' portrayal of Judas the Gallilean & followers. Coincidence? Artwork & inscriptions show syncretism as Allen shows here.I personally don't care either way because any human Jesus was so heavily mythologized its a distinction without a difference. I just don't understand Jacob's recent militancy agsinst mythicism. Maybe we can just never really know & that's OK. Live this one life we are sure of to the fullest as an ethical good person as best we can, that is the true gnosis.

"If, 'Christianity' Originated with the Roman Era ....and, No Religions had Existed Prior to it ... The 'Bible' and other Stuff Presented, might give it Important Credibility (maybe), ... But, ... 'Religion' Pre-dates these Dogma by Thousands of ....Years !"

The problem is, not many people read the Bible and the parable of 'The Sower of Fine Seed'
If they did read it, they would understand that when the Sower of fine seed (Jesus) goes.
The Weed man comes and sows his seeds into religion.
That means after these weeds growing in religion, you are going to get them doing wrong things, and putting pagan stuff in.
Then Jesus says, we have to wait until harvest time.
That is when Jesus starts it back up, by getting his new followers preaching about his fathers Kingdom, and when all the inhabited Earth has a witness, then the end of this Satanic World will end.

What is the word Mr. Allen says that the Jews would have been at the 6:55 Minute mark and he mentions the word again at the 7:49 minute mark. After he said that the Jews during the time of Jesus would have been circumcised and following the Law Of Moses . Sounds like he says that the Jews would have been costrute-castrute or something like that I have tried to look the meaning of this word up in the dictionary and all I get is to castrate?

If u don't back up your hypothesis with external sources that offer credible support to your position, dont expect people to believe you. And importantly as regards messianic pretenders, explain why numbers of them arose whose acrual existence today is mostly unknown? What is the reason for the persistence of the Christian myth?
