'Deutschlandlied' - Farawell Honors of Angela Merkel as Chancellor of Germany in Berlin 2021

After serving 16 years as Chancellor of Germany since 2005, in December 3, 2021, in Front of the German Chancellor's Office, Angela Merkel has decided to retire from the position. This is the German National Anthem "Deutschlandlied", which is played during Germany's highest military ceremony, as a sign of farewell and tribute (honors) to Angela Merkel. Although, she will still hold the post of Chancellor of Germany until the next Chancellor is appointed. Angela Merkel is the first female Chancellor of Germany, and the first Chancellor of Germany since German Reunification who grew up in East Germany. Thank you for being Chancellor of Germany for 16 years....

Just love how the German military band always adds little touches, accents to their performances.
I thought I knew the Deutschlandlied pretty well: it was played at the end of German television broadcasts and we in Holland could receive it.

I feel like if there were to be a movie on Ms. Merkel's time as chancellor of Germany in the future, this would be the final scene. My Mother’s family was from Tilsit in East Prussia. My Mother told the Russians to get out of her house. They left & a Soviet officer came and apologized.
My Mother later took my sister & walked from Tilsit to Berlin, 483 miles. Then she went to Nuremburg whe she met and married my Father who was in the US Army.
She and my sister came to the US in 1950.
She was a formidable woman.
