Instructions:

Ch = chain
Sc = single crochet
Dc = double crochet

Foundation and Row 1:
1. Ch in groups of 6 until desired length, then ch 1 extra at the end.
2. Turn your work and sc into each loop. After completing the last sc, ch 3.

Row 2:
3. Turn your work. Skip 2 loops, and dc into the 3rd loop. Ch 2 then dc again into the same loop. You should have a small V shape.
4. Skip 2 loops again, and dc into the 3rd loop. Ch 2 and do another dc into the same space. Repeat this all the way down your row.
5. In your last loop, you should have your final V shape. Ch 3 and then turn your work.

Row 3:
6. Into the large space in between your V legs, dc 2 stitches. Your ch 3 counts as a dc in this space, so you should have a total of 3 dc stitches.
7. Insert your hook into that same space and bring it out on the other side of that first v shape. Dc 1. (This is a front post dc stitch)
8. Skip the next V shape, and do a front post dc into the right half of the third V shape.
9. Dc 5 stitches into the large space between your V legs.
10. Complete this section by doing another front post dc around the left leg of your V shape.
11. Repeat steps 8-10 all the way down your row. Your sections should look like little shells.
12. At the end of the row, do one last front post dc around the left leg of the last full V shape.
13. Into the large space before the final stitch, dc 2.
14. Complete this row by inserting your hook into the last loop of the row, and dc 1. This should be a group of 3 dc stitches, just like the beginning of the row. Ch 3 then turn your work.

Row 4:
15. Dc 1 into the first loop.
16. Into the space between the last 2 shells (the second one is a partial shell), dc 1, ch 2 and then dc 1 again in the same space. (It should make a V).
17. Skip 3 loops, then insert your hook into the 4th loop. Dc 1, ch 2 and dc 1 again all in the same space. This should be the top of the shell.
18. Into the next space between 2 full shells: dc 1, ch 2, dc 1. You are making your V shapes again. Repeat steps 17-18 all the way down your row, alternating between tops of shells, and the spaces between them.
19. At the end of your row, the last V shape should be done into the last loop of the row. Ch 3.

Row 5:
20. Turn your work. Skip the first V shape, then do 1 front post dc around the right leg of the second V.
21. Repeat steps 8-10 from the Row 3 section all the way down your row.
22. At the end of your row, dc 1 into the last loop of the row. Ch 3.

Row 6:
23. Turn your work, and repeat the steps from the Row 3 section. Make sure the first 2 dc are done into the larger space between the shell and final dc stitch from the previous row that you just finished.
24. Repeat steps 17-18 from the Row 4 section.

Continue alternating to your desired length, or use Rows 1-3 as a nice border. Hope these instructions in combination with the video help you!

Happy crocheting 😊

Just slow the play back speed down. You can see exactly what they are doing. Beautiful video work and calm music to boot 🙌🏻 🙌🏻

Very lovely stitching ❤️. This would make a beautiful edging as well as an elegant baby blanket or afghan. My grandma used a stitch like this to make lace table runners many years ago. She made incredibly detailed lacework which took her months to years to make each piece. Family members feel incredibly honored to have her work passed down to them over the years. It’s priceless to us ❤

Thank you for sharing! This became one of my favourite stitches. It was also easy to figure out how to make it in rounds. I created a bottle cozy with it. Very cute :)
