I don't get why 24 hours headlight a day is anything special. Sweden is not the only country that has this law.

That Japanese law made a lot of sense to me.

Running out of fuel on the Autobahn is irresponsible and causes problems for other motorists.  I don't understand why that is weird.  We can go fast on the Autobahn because of all the rules like that.

If you have ever been in Sweden and experienced the climate here you would know that it is necessary to have such a law as 24H headlight since if it starts raining heavily during the day and you can't see shit, you don't have to put your headlights on. It's easier just having them on 24h.

24 hour headlight. How is that weird? Battery is no issue and it does help in traffic. Remember its not full beam and in SWEDEN. Its dark 22 hours a day in winter. Not having it is more strange and stupid. Its like: you only need your seatbelt when you sense danger.

It's not illegal to run out of gas on the autobahn! It's just illegal to stop because you ran out of gas...

The headlight one makes sense. We have the same law in Canada (all cars built after 1992 must have DRLs, those without have to use low-beams) and it really makes it easier for other cars to see you, especially in shady areas and during winter.

Oh i dunno. the sweden, Germany and Japan stuff makes absolute sense to me: driving with light is always safer, especially in such a cold and sometimes foggy Country. running out of fuel on the Autobahn can be really dangerous (imagine going 200 on the left lane, running out and someone else without the nesessary space between you Comes up wit 230 as well. you know: the right-mid-left lane System is safe as Long as its running but stopping on the left lane... not good) and the Japan Thing.. well you should stop the Driver from driving of couurse so its natural that driving with him is illegal.

We have our headlights on becuase you see the cars MUCH earlier, and some drivers fucos much more when they can see the light comming for further away. So it's not weird, only good C:

The Sweden one makes sense, if you own a SAAB you will find that the headlight switch only works with the ignition on so you can just leave your lights on and it will never drain the battery when you park up.

The Swedish law should be introduced everywhere! You see and are seen much better and earlier.

The autobahn one isn't weird. If you run out of gas and have to stop that can be very dangerous because other people are going so fast.

The law about having headlights on all the time makes sense. Its not for you to see the road, its to make your car easier to see for pedestrians

running out of gas in Germany on the Autobahn isn't weird, it's common sense and a major safety issue.

In Brazil, it's illegal to run out of fuel, no matter if its on the street or highway. Nothing special about the Autobahn one... nobody wants a stopped car while traveling at 280km/h

I don't see the issue with the 24 hr headlight bit. I do it and it's not required. Light out or not it helps you be seen. As for the guy below me saying it drains his battery... then you have a bad battery or alternator. Your lights don't draw that much. Starting your car does however. It takes an alternator about 15 min to recharge the batteries from 1 start of the motor.

In Uganda it is compulsory to wear a helmut when riding a motorbike unless you are a woman on your way back from the hairdressor's.
