As old devices don't get the up to date software update for GPU from vendors, these issues pops up, hence switching back to software option solves the issue.

Thank you very much for mentioning the encoding options. It didn't exactly give me the right options but I looked into it as you did and it solved my problem and I no longer have that error appearing!

It surprisingly fixed my issue I've been using OBS for years now to stream/record videos & until just a few hours ago I've never had any problems then I got some weird code about niv_bit something or another & looked it up on YouTube saw this video clicked play & blam crazliery enough it literally fixed my problem & I was able to stream right after I did the first switch mentioned in this video kid you not I'm quite surprised honestly I thought it wouldn't work but it did at least for my issue I can't testify for anyone else's issues but hey cool beans guy thanks for the help

Thank you for that tip. I don't stream but I create pre-recorded YouTube tutorials and I clicked off the NVENC in the Video tab like you did in the Output tab and that cleared the error.

Just booted up OBS Today to record some more video from my old Camera. It was working fine a week ago. Then today I was getting this error. Thanks to your video Its all fixed now. Thank You.

This isn't a fix. This is basically just saying don't use NVENC Encoder.. even if its the best encoder thats available on almost all nvidia gpu's. Thats like saying I fixed my FPS at 4k on a 1050 ti by buying a 2080 ti. Isn't really a fix more of a change the way you record/stream entirely.

> Disabling "Rescale Output" in "Output" (encoder settings) did the trick for me. <

I had it working fine previously on my system (GTX 660M, OBS ver. 27.2.0), but after i played with the settings it gave the same error. Searching through logs i found "[jim-nvenc] scaling enabled, falling back to ffmpeg". So it seems, that in my case, it occurs when OBS is trying to use ffmpeg with NVENC.
