I'm watching this less than 15 minutes into it. It has all the wonderful charm of local access cable channels decades ago. Part of the charm is seeing something powered more by the passion of the presenter for his topic than polished production values.

"System variables" was a great term to visit. i don't think i had a name for those. function would have been the closest one for me too. lol

That is a interesting one, until now i likely would have called it a function too, because i often relate a function as being an "action" or thing you do. I really enjoyed a math professors video on how he explained a function on a youtube video i can't find, how "everything in life is a function, when you run you know your left foot goes out in front of your right foot at a certain rate.... or raise an arm left stays down right goes up"... or in math it's steps that form a specific action or result math, code, being that you push a mousebutton and this triggers a series of events to make an action or result like "move your right foot in front of your left foot then the other this is walking", it really fit the function logic for me. But, when i look at it like a variable, it's true it is switching on variable it is, but i'm not sure would have called it a variable before. basically that "a function in math, a function in code, and a function in physics are roundly the same thing."

wow, i did grow up with that watch actually. My mom had a story about watching Exorcist in theaters, it came out 1973. She went to watch it with her friend Sherry at about 13 years old, and when her head spun around Sherry puked in the popcorn and it well over the balcony all over everyone.
