One of my favorite movies. Sonny responding "Can you?" is the greatest subtle diss ever lol

Multiple things in this scene. Sonny shows emotion of all ranges, sadness, anger, confusion. Automatically, he shows his uniqueness. The sadness he shows when his creator died, I don’t think another robot would show that kinda of mourning to one person. They’d just move on to protect someone else.

What keeps me thinking back to this scene is the way they animate him lighting up at his excitement at the possibility that Spooner could turn a canvas into a masterpiece, which also hints at his drawing interests later.

This scene shows a human who is waiting for confessions from what he himself designates as being only a machine incapable of distinguishing right from wrong. And no one seems to have grasped the absurdity of this scene.

This movie is so underrated. Sonny is a great character he is one of many examples of how a robot can have human emotions.
