What if Neanderthals Didn't Go Extinct?

Показать описание
Neanderthals lived for 300,000 years in Europe. We will never know much about their behavior because they went extinct 40,000 years ago. We know they were intelligent and had many human characteristics. So what would happen if Neanderthals never went extinct?

An entire channel dedicated to the 'What If?". Using knowledge of geography, population and other historical facts I predict what could have happened had things gone differently in history.

Learn about how the world would be different if, the Axis won World War II, if America lost the Revolution, or if Reagan was never president. I do pop culture videos which explored the worlds of Fallout and the Purge. Learn controversial topics such as if Christianity never existed and many other subjects.

Imagine tinder or something asking someone like ‘so... are you a Homo-sapien or Neanderthal’

It's weird that we only have one species of human left. That's so boring

I’ll go out on a limb and say that if “Neanderthals didn’t go extinct” they’d still be alive today.

The Question should be:
What if Neanderthals didn't go extinct and modern human population never left Africa ?

Then I would finally be able to relate to someone.

But modern humans aren't Homo sapiens. We're a subspecies called Homo sapiens sapiens... "Wise, wise men".
Odd, but true! :D

Given the history of imperialism and colonialism in this timeline, I think yours is (sadly) the most logical scenario. The one aspect that you neglected to mention is that hybrid creatures that have parents of two different species (like mules) are often sterile. But the conclusion would be the same - bred out of existence.

That said, you should read Robert Sawyer's "Neanderthal Parallax" triliogy (if you haven't already). Jean Auel also had some interesting ideas that she presented in her novel series.

These renderings of neanderthals look like people I've seen walking around.

Neteadrathals are actually stronger physically. Estimated similar intellect they would live like humans. More meat needed higher caloric intake. They would basically be a violent warrior Hunter gatherer society contending with modern man.

It is believed they had less capacity for imagination thus more likely would absorb innovations of nearby tribes.

The lack of population comparably from innovations such as agriculture would lead to a smaller population size pushing them further north. They would basically survive like the Sami. The lack of megafauna would lead to more raids on homo sapien settlements. They would most likely get shorter and be living in a state of near constant starvation.

It's kind of like asking what if direwolves survived the death of megafauna.

Neanderthals were humans... Not just homo sapiens immigrants. Neanderthals are now modern Europeans.

Wow I really like the last part about how our concept of species might be different. That's crazy how our science is shaped by what we can see, it really shows science's limitations and frankly as a scientist myself, it's quite scary!!!
