PC Fan Bearings - Sleeve vs Ball vs Others as Fast As Possible

I have my engineering paper tommorow and was going through yt in search of comparison between ball and sleeve bearing and i never ever expected to be taught by Linus himself.

4:17 Sewing machine oil works great for this. I kept a GPU fan alive for about 2 years with it. Sometimes you need to drill a small hole under the sticker, but its worth it if the fan is noisy and hasn't frozen.

So regarding sleeve bearing reliability, I just replaced a pair of Sunon sleeve bearing fans that were powered on 24/7 365 since 1998. The amplifier was decommissioned in early 2015, and I've been using it intermittently since. In other words, about 149, 000 power on hours.

I like using Enermax fans. Their advantage is modular construction.
You can disassemble your fan! Allowing access to the electric motor and the bearing from both sides. Also a very convenient way to clean it.

I use 2 Sunon magnetic levitated fan, no sleeve contact with bearing, for my CPU and case. I also use 1 AVC hydro-bearing fan, locked and pressurized oil between shaft and bearing, never dry out, and don't need add oil, for HDD cooling. 3 fan in my tower no sound at all, very quite.

I've been looking for one of these videos linus! Thanks!  However, "point contact" does not 'reduce friction'. Friction is determined by the weight of one object on another and doesn't matter wether that weight is spread  over 1 cm^2 or 5 cm^2.  The "point contact" will put more stress on said "point" because it has to deliver the total friction over a smaller area.  You can think of this like sliding across a slip-n-slide.  First, slide on your chest/stomach.  Fun, right?  Now try sliding with your elbow/forearm holding up your upper body. In both cases you will slide just as far (as long as you didn't go to McD's in between runs), but your elbow will probably hurt a lot more than your chest after you stop sliding.  This is because the total friction force has to act on a smaller area and this is what is happening inside the ball-bearing.

Maybe explain exactly what bearings do within fans, and where they are located in a bit more depth. More pictures of the anatomy of the fans would be super helpful, and a bit more information on pricing between the different types of fans would also be great. LMG Forever <3
