Thank you so much for all the validation you do for mental health community!

Learning about splitting was really useful to me. I have close family/friends with BPD and EUPD, and I have ASC and ADHD. The extreme emotional reactions to life, plus the frustration intolerance and desire for order in a chaotic world can lead me to split a lot, I try to catch myself as often as possible but it’s hard. I just repeat to myself “more than one thing can be true at once” to help validate some of the feelings I have, but also then look at other perspectives. It can be very hard

Another good term for it could be ras flipping (r.a.s. stands for the reticular activating system, basically focusing on collecting data on patterns. The ras flip can result in positive to negative and potentially vise versa

Your videos always give me a little moment of peace

Thanks Again Dr. Fox Did you go to school in Texas? I was trying to see 😢credentials because in spite of the fact that you sound so very intelligent and knowledgeable and a little intimidating I might add, I still don’t trust you that you are certified. You’ve commented on my messages before and I appreciate each and everyone of them. And the splitting, is a complete lifesaver for me❤😮 Although it is hard to explain to people that do not have BPD

I'm curious on your take with misdiagnosing DID/OSDD for BPD and/or having both?

I split your videos they don't help. I actually think I should keep the splitting when it comes to relationships. I didn't split my quiet BPD ex and so now 5 months later I'm still somewhat attached. This is fucking ridiculous. He has refused to block me and so I send a lot of unanswered messages. It's stupid and weird. I prefer the splitting instead of whatever fucked up thing it is that I'm doing

You have a totally different definition of splitting as I have as a psychiatrist. In my opinion splitting is a copingstrategy to play out people against each other. They don't want to be responsible. Your definition, I don't get. It is not about being responsible. Splitting is not about liking ice or cake! Everybody is splitting in your definition. In my definition it is a play to put responsibility in an other person. Especially when mentalisation is not possible anymore. So you put responsibility for your life in another person. So you must not be splitted, but help the splitting person to be able to mentalize again. Do not take over responsibility!
Dr. Fox, what are you talking about? Your definition totally doesn't help. I question your understanding of splitting...
I have serious issues about your explanations to personality disorders. I don't agree! Splitting in this video isn't even pathologic at all. But is is in cluster B PD
