Thanks for the great tutorial. One trap for young players.... Be careful if you need to turn protected boot off to boot from a USB / ext drive AND you have a bitlocker encrypted main drive. I didn't realise I had bitlocker encryption turned on, (it came pre-installed and enabled), until I tried to boot to Windows without the Batocera USB inserted. I was presented with a very unfriendly screen requiring me to enter a decryption key. It didn't like my keyboard either, (the one built into the laptop!) I wasn't game to mess with it. Without the USB inserted, I was unable to boot to BIOS to turn protected boot back on. I needed to insert the USB, restart, and was able to boot to BIOS. Had me worried there for a bit!

Another great video! I was hoping version 32 would have fixed the issues with MacBooks. But still no sound or keyboard. Hopefully soon…
Love the channel and the website is awesome. Keep up the good work!

The only part I’m confused about is that it seems like you only need one external hard drive/flash drive for batocera and your games but when I look it up everyone else says to use a small flash drive for the batocera files and then place your roms on a separate hard drive.

Your videos are great. Thank you so much for doing this. These instructional videos really shorten the learning curve for us newbies. Are you willing to share your desktop image, just the landscape with no text or images? Thanks again.

Great tutorials!!! Keep up the good work!! I have Batocera up and running on the Pi 5, flashed to an SD card. I have a few smaller systems (NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, etc) romsets on said SD card. With that in mind, I do have a few questions:

1. I have an external hard drive stored with larger disc based files (PS, Dreamcast, etc) that would overload the SD card if transferred to those rom folders. I'd like to just run those games straight from the external drive. I'm aware that you can select the drive from within Batocera.

Question is: If I select this as the main point of access and it auto creates the same Batocera folders, does this erase my current files I have stored on there? Or will it just add the folders and leave whats already on the drive alone? I'm afraid that if I select the external drive as the rom source, it will auto restructure and I will lose whatever game files I have stored on there prior.

Can the external drive remain a storage source AND a source for running the roms? I cant afford for Batocera's auto folder restructuring to compromise what I already have stored on the external drive. I'd lose my main storage source of files and it would be devasting if so.

2. Does said external drive have to have Bato image flashed as well in order to run those larger roms? Or will it work cohesively with the image running off the SD card?

Thank you in advance!!!
