Quick and easy way to open and refill disposable salt or pepper peppercorn grinder. This method should work with many brands of grinders, including Stonemill, McCormick, Kirkland, Costco, Walmart, Publix and other big supermarket brands. Safe the planet by recycling this glass and plastic kitchen item, that was purposely designed to be disposable and with intention of selling you more stuff, when it could easily be reused many times.

Super helpful! It's a shame these are designed to be so wasteful.

I was wondering how to open up my peppermill and the first video I came to I watched. In less than a minute I knew how. Life is full of little victories and this is one of them. Thanks for making and posting this!

Tried for 30 minutes to open bottle. Got frustrated, watched your video, opened bottle in 10 seconds! Real heroes don’t always wear capes!!

It works! I also had a “badia” mill this trick did not work on BUT channel locks did! 😉
Thank you for the video, I really hate being wasteful

I had one of those big ones from Lidl with himalayan rock salt, easiest way was to put the handle end of a teaspoon between the jar and the plastic part, then use it as a lever to pry it open, then rotate and repeat once it pops off. No sweat, no cursing.

It seems this design has gotten more sophisticated, there is a ring the whole way around now. 60 seconds under a hair dryer and then straight angled pull worked a treat. Only in Australia could a duopoly force you to buy reusable plastic bags and then prevent you from reusing a salt shaker!

The couch tip was super helpful. Glad that I was already on the couch when I looked for this video.

Dude, thanks. This trick with the sofa/pillows was amazing, it popped right away. Mine had a complete circle, not just stoppers.

HOLY SMOKES! It worked!! Thank you so much for the quick tip! I thought I’d have to break the thing to get it off, low & behold it’s re-usable.

I despise companies trying to force things to be single use just to get more $$$ from me. Big middle finger to McCormick & a massive thanks to you!

I was angry because of that fact and I knew that there is a way without risking to break everything. Thank you very much!

Thank you! I've used a pillow underneath and put a fabric towel underneath because spice jar was full with whole pepper. Spilled some but managed to open the lid in 10 seconds. It really works!
