The scheme resistance is only for personal schemes, not hostile schemes. It will protect you from being befriended but not from murders.

Shy and paranoid seems to be a relatively common combo for heirs

As a shy and slight paranoid person; I absolutely hate stressing out over stupid shit; but here I am like I exist in some CK plot.

It is the worst personality trait. The worst part is one of the event that gives a child the trait will either give them "shy" or "paranoid", so there's no good other options for it : (

Moreover, whenever your wife becomes pregnant, it will make you suspect that the child is not yours.

Combine paranoid and shy and you make anxiety.

At least with Paranoid, you can still use hunts and feasts to lose stress.

Also, your avatar is adorable. She’s like a Byzantine cocker spaniel!

Paranoid has more benefits than that. There’s been several times that my character has been ambushed, But because I had paranoid trait, I could just dip out of the window or fight my way out. Have a lot of downsides? Yeah, But It gives you a lot of back doors out of a lot of” You get assassinated” Encounters

Paranoid does have some interesting interactions for giving you more health, like the fresh ai event during tournaments or health first during plagues. I had a character who go paranoid but also got athletic, journaled, and confider due to mental breaks while young. Was able to manage the stress reasonably

I had a shy paranoid diligent he died in like 10 years from stress but he saved the kingdom of france after his weak mother overthrew thr king but was to compassionate to wipe out the rebels she faced every 5 years

Im currently creating my own empire in Spain and two of my kings had shy and paranoid. I was wondering why it was almost impossible too keep my stress down.

It’s so much worse for me. As pointed out you can help mitigate shy but paranoid is a nightmare killer to have, but can be useful for your vassals and minions to have

Sometimes I’ll do competitions in which I design 2 people in the ruler designer and have them try to take each other out through intrigue and see who lives longer. It’s always fun using the Paranoid trait because the more stress they get the more fun stress events I can make the contestants choose between options in.

Also, Imbecile is still the worst if you don’t limit yourself to personality. :P

Only thing about paranoid that I like is that buff you get from one of the intrigue skill trees. "Good under pressure" or something, where you get big buffs for each level of stress. Paranoid is the only time I ever seem to actually use that because keeping stress low is just not in the cards so you might as well use it. But you're right overall paranoid is not great.
