You'll find everything about that black box is to avoid shaking apart. You might even see shipping foam layers in between circuit boards.
It looks like it was on a shaker table test for testing.
It's more than just a battery because of the multiple connectors.

That over-engineered battery sure looks like it's aerospace equipment. If it didn't come from a rocket maker, I'd have guessed it was a surplus battery from the B787 that had problems with its first generation of lithium batteries.

The valve is probably for nitrogen purging. It keeps moisture out of the sealed enclosure, so no rusting or corroding

So, I just got the first part of my order in (the batteries mentioned here) and wanted to say thanks. I'm planning on trying to find the time to post a few vids from unboxing to assembling these into a 7s10p using the populated 10x board "pack" and BMS. I know comments aren't necessarily the place for a review, but so far the experience as been great, and that's just based on ordering and seeing the care that went into packing two of these modules into a box. Hoping that it continues.

I would bet that air connector is for drawing a vacuum not pressurizing,

the valve is probably used to test the seal. you pump the amount of the testing pressure... then release... the seal just passed the test or fail if it doesnt hold...

Given that at the start when you do show the sticker on the side it says SpaceX F9 Li-ion battery assy im gonna guess its a battery pack for a Falcon 9 from SpaceX. Says Rev A so id say its from a previous 'block' Not the current block 5 they are flying.

I wouldn't be surprised if these aren't similar to the new battery modules they are swapping in to replace the Nickle Hydrogen ones on the ISS at the end of the month. I wonder if the space company buys them from that notorious EV company out of Hawthorn that is also owned buy some crazy billionaire.
