I am an American who came to Seoul, Korea 17 years ago, intending to stay for just a year or two. However, I liked it so much that I ended up living here for 17 years.
I have no plans to return to the States.

Unlike other foreigners, your interest in learning and enjoying the Korean language is likely to make your experience in Korea more enjoyable.
Foreigners who do not learn Korean and show no interest in Korean culture tend to focus only on Korea's flaws, dismiss Korean culture, and, in severe cases, even disrespect Koreans.
These people often find it difficult to live in Korea, struggle to make friends with Koreans, and eventually leave Korea, they believe it is Korea's fault for them to leave.
I think your mindset is very mature :)

I moved from Australia to Spain when I was 22. Have never looked back…..and I am now 54.

Last March-May I have lived in Korea and attended korean language school (lvl1). They were the best 3 months of my life (I'm 24 now), but had to go back to my home country unfortunaly due to lack of money and other commitments. But definitely coming back in a year or 2 for lvl2 (and 3 hopefully)!

I completely get where you're coming from! This video spoke to me and made me realize that there's better opportunities for myself outside of my hometown and the states

I'm hoping I feel this way too. Moving there at the end of the year and don't see myself coming back to the states if it goes well.

Hi, I also didn’t have close relationship with my parents. They pushed me away with their emotional abuse, criticism, belittling. Moving here to Korea was quite easy and finally I am at peace.

Same, though. I came to Busan in 2013 and have been here ever since. I have a child now, which makes me sometimes think living back home in Minnesota would be nice. However, Korean health care, safety, convenience, and cost of living are much better than in the U.S., especially with a child. Don't get me wrong, Korea has its cons and difficulties, but if you learn the language and culture things will start opening up.

You were prolly Korean in your recent paast life and felt displaced in America and felt home here ~ whatever it is as long as you are happy and dping well and at peace all the kudos to you!. I immigrated to America from Korea at age 11 and came back at 32 for my husband's job and never went back except for annual visit. I love America but I love living in Korea as there is this sense of coziness and safety here for me.

How courageous you are to move to Korea and how wonderful that you love living there! I am a Korean and moved to the US from Korea in 2002 and am still living here. As some people mentioned below, the most important thing is to find where you fit the best. Some people never leave where they were born and grew up and if it works out for them, It's great and some brave souls like yourself move so far to have a better life..I think it takes guts, trust, and deep thought process etc..

I am also so moved that you are able to admit the fact that you didn't deeply bond with your parents. I think accepting that truth must be so liberating for you and your truthful insight will lead you to a more authentic-burden free life..Congratulations!!!

Wow our stories are so similar! I came to Korea when I was 22 and it's been almost 7 years now. Never want to go back to the US since it just feels like home here now~ I look forward to watching more of your content 😊

I feel exactly the same about my family, so for me it wouldn't be a problem to move to other country, the problem is to get a visa and a job! Thanks for ur video❤

thanks a lot for this video, i needed a lot . and will help me to get more information like that since yeah other channels focus as you explained the point of view changes quite a bit . I must be honest i have been struggling by learning the language by myself being so far away and just internet well is kind of difficult if you can pay for an online teacher . hope i get more money and be able to travel as you did . you are motivating me so much to make that goal a real one. hope you have a great week ahead (my English is not perfect since i'm also learning it, pardon any mistakes )

Thank you for sharing this experience! Can you do a video talking about a reasonable amount of money to save to make the jump? What your experience was, how much you saved etc.
Thanks again for this content
