Why the MCU Needs a Hulk Origin Story

Wouldn't you like to see the jolly green giant's origin story re-told for the MCU?

We know the Marvel Cinematic Universe will never be able to contain all the awesome comic book lore out there, but it seems like they skipped a really important bit of information about Bruce Banner’s backstory. Yes, an unhealthy dose of gamma radiation helped transform him into The Incredible Hulk, but don’t forget about all of the inner rage and trauma the recipe required as well. It’s well past time this hero got his own origin story in the MCU. His standalone film starring Edward Norton didn’t cover enough about his background, and although Mark Ruffalo later hinted at it we’d like to see it play out on the big screen. Looking back at the past could also help connect it with the future of the MCU. Will we ever see Betty Ross again? What about Samuel Sterns’ transformation into the leader? Plus, revealing his past could help explain his relationship with his cousin, Jennifer Walters just in time for She Hulk to get her own show. There are also some fans hoping that a glimpse back in time could also show us Tony Stark in action one last time.

I think we need a movie that happens directly after The Incredible Hulk. That movie had a lot of loose ends, like Betty Ross and The Leader. It could be an origin story and a way to tie up all the plotholes

In the MCU, Bruce Banner's main conflict is just having a monstrous alter ego. There's no thematic resonance in his origin story beyond this duality, and the only hint at his traumatic past lies in the rushed opening sequence of The Incredible Hulk - the least interconnected movie in the franchise.

Marvel doesn’t own full rights to Hulk. Marvel has production rights to the Hulk, Universal has distribution rights. For any standalone Hulk movie Marvel makes, Universal prints the physical film, negotiate with individual theaters, & they have the final say on when it releases, as well as the format it goes out on, & they’d receive a massive cut of the profits. It’s not an origin story, but Ragnarok, Infinity War, & Endgame were Hulk/Banner’s trilogy.

On a semi-canon MCU cómics it’s revealed that During his childhood, Bruce and his father had an entangled relationship, because Bruce thought he cannot impress him. Also in a deleted scene of Thor Ragnarok, Bruce mentions that he wasn’t present during his father last moments of life, because he was experiment with gamma Rays. Also it would be a Hulk sequel that would introduce the Leader, Abomination and the Grey Hulk, but later marvel studios got the rights and made the decision of making a “soft reboot” but Edward Norton rewrote the script, eliminating all connection of Hulk (2003).

Yes there must be another solo Hulk movie to have his origin story in the MCU

His trauma and terrible childhood, His work on gamma radiation and his new version of the super soldier serum, His relationship with Betty Ross, His first transformation & experience as the HULK, How General Ross got to never liking Bruce and how he got started hunting him, Well also in probably all of this will be connected later on in the 2008 film. Disney must get the rights from universal studios also ext. to make this happen which it must happen it’s been years since we got to have a HULK solo film
