Winter Truck Camping Staying Cozy and Warm Alone in the Woods

Thanks for joining along with Toby and me this weekend. It was a really quiet spot we found. I planned on doing more this weekend but ran out of steam. I brought wax worms to go fishing and I planned on walking on a cross-country ski trail that circles the lake. Unfortunately, the constant freezing mist in the air kept me closer to the camper. The good news is I was able to get some cleaning done. I found the location of a mystery smell and cleaned the carpets. All in all, not a bad weekend.

Have you ever been startled at night out there by an owl? One time I and some friends were out in the woods late at night and it was as silent as can be, when all of a sudden a barn owl let out a very loud screeching cry that broke the silence. It was probably 500 foot or so away. I think our hearts skipped a beat.

Loved seeing the snow. May I make a suggestion for Toby? When you set his chair out when it's really cold, get him a fluffy throw blanket to put in the chair first. (or put one on your Amazon wish list.) A single or double sized fleece blanket would be good too so you could cover him up in the chair. It will make a nice little warm nest for him. I know you take good care of him, and he wears coats and hoodies to keep warm, but this would be a little extra for your buddy. **Edit: I just sent you one for him. It's Christmas time after all. Toby is just the perfect camping buddy….. While I watch Toby my Pitt cross is laying on my lap..he’s too big but he loves being a lap dog…. These videos are so relaxing…. They sure make my day.

I vote pull up carpet and lay down some cheap Vinyl wood flooring. Super easy to clean, especially with Toby in and out tracking. You can lay some good thick rugs down for the winter months that you can pull out and clean and put back in. Winter camping for the weekend is vastly different from winter camping full time in a truck camper. My maiden voyage began on Dec 14 and boy, is there a huge learning curve. Thanks to you and Toby, I am confident that I will get the hang of it and find my footing. As always, thank you for taking us along on your journey.
