Don't get me started on the robotic GPS voice that has landed me in so much trouble this far... Yes, please, visual arrows. God bless this beautiful couple!

Yup visualization cues are the only things that help me with spacial instructions as well. Words don't really stick in my mind

Sometimes I think that SOME of our processes aren’t as much about how our brains work, but how we’re taught to use our brains.

I'm in the southern US and ppl would joke about how country ppl give directions via landmark. Like, go down the road "a ways" until you see a barn, turn right at the barn and keep going until you hit the new Burger King and veer left, etc etc. But now I think that's the best way for me to actually remember where to go and know that I'm on track if it's a new destination.

It's amazing how much support and love you can hear in his voice towards her. She deserves it. They're both awesome 🥰💕

See I was trying picturing a road that ends, driving right, then passing a crossing, taking the next left, until I'm in the roundabout and then idk... But when people talk it just goes way to fast and I'm usually busy seeming like I understand what their saying and being grateful and nice about it. And as soon as I turn my back my smile fades as I realize I remember absolutley nothing except maybe the first step and that he mentioned some stairs along the way.
My solution usually was going as far as I can remember surely and then fighting my anxiety and ask someone again for the remainder of the way 😅

Thanks for this! Also, really appreciate how you two communicate so respectfully and kind to each other. ❤

That’s insane!! I just tried it and it worked!! Life changing considering I essentially start hyperventilating when people try to give me directions like this!!!!

I struggle with left and right. And confuse these, unknowingly, I'll think I'm going left but I'm going right! Apparently thus is quite common in adhd. But then I'm 52 and had no idea what was wrong with me till I was 50! 😂

Not me creating an elaborate mental image of actual roads complete with houses and what not. Ohh arrows, yea I guess that works too 😅😂

Sometimes I have to be able to ‘see’ the journey before I start driving, even on trips I’ve made several times before! If it’s a new journey… thank goodness for GPS. Very grateful I don’t have afantasia but it can get very distracting when I have ‘mini videos’ playing in my head while my eyes are open and I’m driving!! I absolutely love your content ❤

You got farther than I did, honey! I was busy remembering right and lefts ~ and completely forgot about the end of the road FIRST !😂
I never thought of using arrows, but I like that idea❤ it is helpful when I make a map in my mind… I just need to remember to do it!
Thanks for all the love and support that you to bring into my life!❤

OMG, I was totally typing it out, in my head, too!!! And I was trying to go back and forth, repeating the first bits (to try not to forget them), whilst simultaneously listenening to the later bits. First go, I could only remember the very first instruction and the last one or two, maybe. But I got stuck, at the same place as Rox. Wild! I never thought of using arrows or something specifically pictorial, like this. But, following along, that way, did make it easier. Also, a little line-drawing of a map took shape, in my mind, without me meaning for it to do. Wicked!😮

This is such a useful tool for breaking tbat explaination barrier for neuro-spicys. Explain the "mental picture" and how we each individually see things in our mind. Very cool

Amazing job Rox!!! A personal victory ❤ I love those when they happen to me! I had one the other day. I've been so down and overwhelmed lately that I've spent the last few days judging under the covers in my room. I had to cut pills in half to prepare for a ride adjustment of my blood pressure medicine. Well, I poured a bunch out onto the paper towel and forced myself to cut them all. I didn't need to cut that many, but I did that so that I'd have one accomplishment for that day...a task I completed. Personal victory 🙌

Her visualization is still different than how I did it. From the start of the video I was picturing a road, picturing the turns, the round about. I'm not trying to picture the words, but also not just picturing arrows

First, I love, love, LOVE how respectful and open you both are about your differences and unique experiences without being judgmental. It's truly wonderful to see!

Second, somehow along the way, in the 43+ years before I realized I'm ADHD, I started visualizing directions, but in a much more complicated way: I actually picture a route - road, houses, trees, grass and all, that matches the instructions given... Arrows will be SO much easier. THANK YOU!!! 😃
