This is actually as farfetched as it sounds lol. Canada is right on the border with the US for 1. The US cannot allow Canada to become an unstable country right atop their border, even if they weren't such close allies. Even if the US didn't help it would be extremely expensive and hard for Russia to sustain a war against Canada. They'd need to build military bases on essentially ice and the supply line would be an absolute nightmare to maintain. People LOVE to romantasise these ideas of war that are just not reality.

For one, not a single nato country would just sit by and watch it happen.
We've pulled more than our weight ever since ww1 and have ever since supported our allies in so many ways.
I'm fairly certain that having fought side by side with the US in almost every war US has started, we could expect its support especially since we share such a huge unprotected border.

Russia couldn't attack Canada by land because of the huge logistical demands involved. I mean, Russia can barely supply its troops and successfully prosecute a war in Ukraine, so how could it deploy troops thousands of miles over the Arctic and into northern Canada? In short, it couldn't. If it tried to drop tens of thousands of troops via parachute, the US and Canadian air forces would shoot all of the transport aircraft down, and this is assuming that Russian transport aircraft would have that kind of range without refuelling.

Attempting to attack or invade by naval means would also fail because the US and Canadian navies would sink every Russian ship that even tried to get close.
