If you could make any car an EV, what car would it be?

I would love to see increased coverage of Right to Repair from The Verge

Because Toyotas are known to be very repairable, I look forward to see if Toyota EVs will be easily repairable or not. I love that Ford has taken this approach. ❤️

Love that Ford is taking this initiative, and hope that they actually make enough. There’s no good reason to destroy a healthy ecosystems of mechanics and garages, and it seems a lot more eco friendly to replace an engine instead of the whole body, system, seats, etc etc

Gotta give credit to Ford, this is pretty damn legit. Hope this extends to more manufacturers and more parts!

I love the fact that you can take a family car that might have been passed down from grandfather to grandson or son, then you can convert it to an ev while keeping the rest original as possible. It runs clean, no noise, lots of torque and instant throttle response. So you can now drive this old classic car like an everyday vehicle it's great!

I think GM does this too. Both manufacturers continuing their tradition of making their motors available for anyone to buy is definitely a good thing!

Tesla goes against its own “environmental” push. Right to Repair is an environmentally conscious pillar.

Really happy to see you leveraging Ford's crate motor announcement to highlight the need for right to repair. Sincerely, a Tesla owner

A lot of people making fun of Ford for just selling the Crate EV motor “Batteries not included”. But 99% of crate motors are the same way. You still need to source radiators, hoses, wiring, a fuel tank, fuel pump system, etc etc etc.

Right now yes it’s a limited market with a learning curve. But don’t be surprised if in the next decade you can pop into your local auto zone and pick up all these EV components.

This has to be one of my favorite YouTube tech vids in a long time. Great job on getting all of these topics into one digestible video that is so well narrated.

Note - I don't think FORD wanted to "take the initiative" ... they are legally mandated to do this AND literally paid millions of dollars to try and change the laws. Right to Repair is amazing and ABSOLUTELY NECESARY!

I've been waiting for Europe to allow doing this kind of thing legally to vintage cars, no need to throw away perfectly good cars just because the motor is blown and inefficient

That's actually pretty dope. Hope this can make EV's actually sustainable for once...

You should have interviewed Luis Rossmann for this piece as well.

Please do more Right to Repair topics.

Some people are scared EVs are going to kill car modding. I'm glad this proves them wrong and I'm super excited that ford did this, because now the other big brands *have to do the same thing*. They can't leave that challenge unanswered. That means more competition, more electric options, more support, and eventually lower prices. Should also help shift public perception of EVs in some of the crowds that still needed convincing.

Right of repair is critical, and so few are talking about it. Thanks for covering this.

This is one of the reasons I love my Ford's. I've been able to get every part for my F150, my dad's Transit, my dad's old Econoline, and a bunch of friends say the same about their Ford vehicles. Aftermarket solutions like Forscan that are free alternative's to Ford's IDS software (Which they will sell to you if you're will to pay for it) make the software side just as easy as the hardware. To all the numbskull's who say "it's dangerous" have clearly never worked on their own cars or been taught to. I've actually brought Ford up as a case FOR Right to Repair.
