The reason Polynesian appeared in your dna results is because Polynesians are an admixture of Austronesians (Southeast Asian), which Filipinos also are, and Austroloid (Melanesian) which many Filipinos also have since the original people in the Philippines like the Negritos are Austroloid. But to claim you are Polynesian if you don't have actual ancestry from the people who settled the Polynesian islands for thousands of years is inaccurate. If you were to break down your results on a site like 23andMe you would get a more accurate result and you would most likely have less than 10% Polynesian.

In my humble opinion, a long long long time ago, Asians make a trek from Siberia to Alaska over the Bering Straits when it was frozen over. They became Native Alaskans, Native Aleuts, Native Canadians, Native Greenlanders, and yes... Native Americans. Remember, they were the ones who invented the kayak from whale bone and seal skin thousands of years ago... and the Native American canoe. I believe they may have even ventured south to Central American... and possibly even to South America. So if you are told you have Native American blood, ... that could be the reason why. Might add that DNA for Asia, Polynesia, Micronesia is not as detail and extensive as Europe and other Western countries.

AncestryDNA's ancestry calculator is totally useless garbage if you are Asian. That Polynesian category in AncestryDNA is backwards. Polynesians are part Asian. When Asians take the test from Ancestry DNA, some of their DNA matches the Asian part of Polynesian sample, and it assigns them Polynesian ancestry. Even Chinese people will sometimes show around 10% Polynesian. And then, on top of assigning false Polynesian ancestry, AncestryDNA doesn't break the East Asia category down any further.

Asians are much better off using 23andme. It will actually give you a useful breakdown of your ancestry. The only thing AncestryDNA is good for if you are Asian is taking the raw DNA data and using it with 3rd party ancestry calculators like dna.land, wegene, and gedmatch. If you are Asian, and you are considering a DNA test, do not waste your money on AncestryDNA.

You're not Polynesian (nor Native American). The Polynesian cluster is just capturing the more recent common ancestry actual Polynesians share with Filippinos (among others) and ultimately back to Taiwan, the place of origin of Austronesian languages (of which polynesian languages, the languages in the Philippines and many others are part of). The only way to make sense of these results is by comparing yourself to other Filippinos as well as neighbouring populations. And also by using gedmatch.com for instance.
